It wasn’t necessarily someone staying on site who was the guilty party. If I recall correctly, it’s not difficult for someone to walk onto that site while the gate is open. It's despicable, whoever it was and I hope you reported the matter to the warden.

And I had the opposite experience today - pretty minor really - but it does illustrate the point. I use a length of blue hose with a Hozelock connector and tap connector plugged into it to fill my Aquaroll. Went to fill Aquaroll this morning, reached for the tap connector which I leave plugged into the Hozelock fitting and it wasn't there. Damn, I thought - better go back to the van for another one. Looked at the tap - and there was my tap connector, still there from the previous morning!

Staying at a commercial site our aqua roll handle was taken we popped into reception to report it and hopefully buy a replacement but we were led to a storage building and lying on floor were several handles that had been left on site and was given one

Whilst staying there a few years ago we noticed the ease that anyone visiting the House would have in gaining access to the site. We're normally willing to trust members but on that stay decided to move anything not needed outside to the caravan when leaving the site.
Even so, pinching a hose? Is that what its come to? I suppose the consequences of getting caught are negligible to nil unless the owner wishes to have more than words of course.

Is theft from sites that common an occurrence? I have never had anything taken but most sites that I have stayed at have not been that close to areas where people who are not staying on site are going to be likely to access them. Perhaps since the publicity about shoplifters not always being being arrested or prosecuted, some people have become more light fingered. I was thinking about visiting Tredegar, so if I do, I will be far more wary of leaving things unattended.

Some sites do have an issue. The ones above sound like rather 'petty' thefts. Not condoning them at all we all know what belongs to us and what doesn't!
Some sites Ferry Meadows was one and I believe Brighton where more 'serious' thefts had and could happen and folk were warned to secure everything especially bikes.
There's good and bad in all of society.

I’m not sure why losing things on a Club Site is any different to other places? Thieves come from all age groups, backgrounds, etc……. So a Club Site needs just as much foresight and care as anywhere else that might be visited. Particularly if sites do have more open access. We used to stay at Marazion Club Site, and that had a public footpath running right through the site. We were always puzzled to see lots of expensive stuff lying around in the open, such as Cadacs, bikes, furniture, etc…… One visit to very busy Yellowcraig years ago, shower heads (the sort in the accessible cubicles) were going at one a day! Staff tearing their hair out! There are a few sites that have quite open access.
Sorry if someone accidentally leaves a tap connector behind, and it’s annoying if it goes.

Yes, Ferry Meadows is notorious for bike thefts, and Clumber was so bad the Club has actually provided excellent high security bike sheds. Despite staff asking folks to use this, some still choose not to take up the free option🤷♀️
