Hi everyone!

It's Bike Week (June 9th - 15th) this week, and what better way to celebrate than to combine our love for caravans, motorhomes and camping with the joy of cycling?

We all know the freedom of exploring new places with our 'vans, and adding bikes to the mix opens up a whole new world of adventure right from your campsite. Whether it's leisurely rides along scenic coastal paths, challenging mountain biking trails, or just cycling to the local shop for supplies, bikes are the perfect companion for our touring lifestyles.

This week, let's share our "Wheels & Wanderlust" stories.

We want to hear about:

  • Your favourite cycling routes from a campsite: Have you discovered a hidden gem of a cycle path near a great site? Share the details!
  • Tips for transporting bikes with your caravan/motorhome: What's your go-to method? Any clever tips?
  • Essential cycling gear for touring: What do you always pack for your biking adventures on the road?
  • Memorable cycling moments from your trips: A stunning view, a funny incident, a family ride that brought everyone together?
  • Photos! We love seeing your bikes in action.

Let's inspire each other to get out and pedal this Bike Week. Don't forget, we have a member offer where you can save 50% on a Cycling UK 12-month membership!

We have used our bikes to and from quite a few Club Sites.

Clumber Park Site, we usually have a few nights if the Tour of Britain is going through, and of course it is a great location to cycle the perimeter of the whole Park, although you do need to be mindful of the main through roads which can be busy with less than careful drivers, and after rain, some off the off road tracks can be muddy.

Ferry Meadows Site, great riding around the Nene Valley Country Park, and there are two routes to get into Peterborough City Centre as well, mostly on dedicated cycleways.

Old Hartley Site, straight out of the gates, pick up the coastal path, through Seaton and onwards to Blyth and beyond, all on dedicated, very good cycle paths. I lost a pedal on this ride, of course at the furthest point, and it was a heck of a walk/coast back as the lug screw was completely gone🥴

Yellowcraig Club Site, lovely routes out towards Gullane and beyond, or into North Berwick.

Foulden Hagg CL (Borders) fantastic cycling from here on mainly quiet roads (care still needed) either up into Cheviots, or to coast at Eyemouth.

College Farm CL (Alkborough, North Lincs) lovely country lanes, mainly quiet, plus you can go across the Humber Bridge! But don’t do it on a windy day🤣

Casthorpe CL, near Belvoir Castle. Quiet country roads, some off road on Viking Way, all around Belvoir Castle, and along the restored Grantham Canal.

Lance Armstrong (boo!) US Postal bike in Magglia Rosa MH Aire and Cafe near Bury St Edmunds. Free to stay, delicious breakfast in cafe. Roads are busy for cycling, but we moved onto Chillesford and Tumbleweed CLs near Orford, and cycled much quieter, interesting roads around there.

Me after a very long Winter ride on a Club Site somewhere! I think I had to be helped off the bike that day!
