the 2D 4-pin fluorescent tube in our motorhome wash room has sopped working and I'm having a problem finding a replacement. My question is, as this a 12v light do I need a specific 12v bulb or will a 240v one work? I ask as 240v ones are widely available.

I believe it needs to be 12v as lights generally run from the battery. I sourced some via Ebay and amazon. A caravan supplies shop should be able to help too.

    Good luck

Thanks for your reply - any chance of some links as Amazon has a lot listed and I've not had much luck with finding supplies shops with these in stock with google?
    Thanks again

I suspect you’ll need to do what I did recently and plough through the listings until you match it.

Google 12 volt lighting, it brings up plenty of web sites and as TW says you will just have to search on these sites for a replacement. Some specialise in caravan lighting.

When fluorescent lamps were commonly fitted in caravans they always had a tiny inverter included in the fitting to increase the 12V supply to the high voltage required by the tube.

Why not take the tube out of your fitting and read the voltage markings, they may well say 240V and also specify the wattage. Your fitting will not be able to supply enough power for any higher wattage bulb.
