Hi Edgar, Club member from Wales here. As you only have a limited time in the UK may I suggest you visit the south of Wales on this trip. From Dover travel North West and pick up the M25 clockwise round London then join the M4 and head West all the way to Wales. After crossing the magnificent Prince of Wales bridge into Wales the first Club site you will come across is Tredegar House near Newport. Ideal for visiting our capital City of Cardiff. Carrying further West stay at Pembrey Country Park club site near Llanelli, a large park with lots of different activities and access to 7 miles of beautiful beach at Cefn Sidan sands, most of the beach is dog friendly during the peak summer months. Head on into Pembrokeshire and to Freshwater East club site, direct access to the beach (dog friendly all year) or visit Saint David's Cathedral, or walk the fantastic Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, stunning scenery. Enjoy yourselves and Croeso I Cymru. (Welcome to Wales).

    Hi @scoutman

We have so much on our to-do list at the moment that two weeks is quite a tight schedule. The direction you're suggesting is definitely where we're headed. Originally, I at least wanted to go as far as Penzance. Of course, we don't want to just drive around, but also explore the area with our two dogs and our bikes (the dogs have their own trailer). We'll see what we manage; the next trip is already being planned. I definitely have to visit the National Rail Museum sometime or other. It's an absolute must for me. I'll probably do the tour later this year with my son and son-in-law. When you're retired, you have plenty of time... or not. 🤣

I think we'll head towards Rushden during the day on Monday. That's the plan, anyway. The route actually goes via Dartford Crossing, although we could also take the southern orbit and then the M25 and M1 towards Rushden. That would definitely be an option. We'll see... maybe we can exchange mobile phone numbers and then coordinate via WhatsApp.

Today we received mail from the UK. The contents are really putting us in the holiday spirit. Many thanks to the club for the great information. By the way, I love maps.

Pleased that you've got them @Edgar - having said that, I don't think I've ever looked at a Sites Directory or the Map - do everything on-line.

I had a 'drive' around your town on Google maps the other day - it looks beautiful - so neat and tidy and trees everywhere - looks really nice😀

Yes, it really is very beautiful here in Münsterland. Above all, the whole area is a paradise for cyclists. If you ever find yourself in this part of town, please get in touch. We have a good parking space for camper vans here, and I always have a cold beer in the fridge. You're very welcome.

I've trained in four professions and worked in them, including as a surveyor, so I naturally have a weakness for good maps.😉

We're leaving home tomorrow, a day later than originally planned, also taking the Dartford Crossing in the early evening.

@Edgar unlike @richardandros we rely on the Site Directory & map for finding sites and for the directions to the CLs and new CAMC sites that we visit. We find it much easier having the book at hand for the final approaches to the sites. We also use the map, in conjunction with web site maps, to plan our trips away.

    Enjoy your time over here.

Yes. I absolutely agree. I still like to have a real book in my hand. I especially love maps. 👍

For me, Wikipedia in book form would be ideal. But that would probably exceed the total weight of our van. 😂

    Have a nice evening 😉
