Website Login

I have a membership with the Caravan and Motorhome Club and would like to log in to the website, but unfortunately it doesn't work. I've already changed the password, but that doesn't work either. I've already asked for help twice at webcontactteam@camc.com, but I haven't received a response. I've checked my spam folder, of course. I'd also like to call them, but I'm afraid my English isn't good enough to explain the problem. Do any of you have any ideas?
Many thanks and best regards from Ostbevern, Germany
Edgar

You need two passwords. One for Club Together (this forum) and another for the main website.
If you have further problems try contacting the Community Manager - communitymanager@camc.com1 -
Hi Tinwheeler, ;-)
Thank you for your information. Yes, I chose a different password for the forum here. It's different from my login on the website.
I registered on the camc website, which worked fine. However, I can't log in there with my password. I've also tried several times to change my password using a password reset. The change works, but then I can't log in again. Three attempts, five minutes of waiting—that's what I keep seeing.
As I said, everything works fine here in the forum. But those are two different things.
Thanks again for your information.
Best regards,
Edgar1 -
I don’t think it’s your IP address causing the problem. We have other overseas members using the site.

I would edit that if I was you because you’re publicising your email address.

@Edgar, From memory…when I logged in for the first time, my iPad suggested and stored the password. When I tried to log in again, the password was filled in for me, as you’d expect. However, the iPad app didn’t differentiate the password/site meaning I couldn’t log in and kept failing. In the end I used the same password for both sites (main site and club together)

@Edgar - I think I know what your problem is - because I had exactly the same issue when the new forum went live - even though I had been involved in the previous testing.
It's all to do with you using a password manager and this is the first time in 9 years of my using it that it has actually caused a problem! I'll try my best to explain but, for obvious reasons, I can't publish any screen shots of my password manager!
I use one called "Dashlane". If you're using the same, that would be great - but either way, the principles are the same.
The problem arises because you need two different passwords - for the main site - and the Forum. However, because your login is the same for both - your email address - the password manager can't differentiate between the two and gives them the same name - say "CAMC".
If you click on the extension in your browser (arrow is pointing at it )- you get a drop down list and you will see that there will be two entries - with the same name but with the two different passwords - for the main site - and for the forum.
With the best will in the world, you will choose the wrong one and this is compounded by the fact that once you do - and accept the invitation to update your password - both you and the password manager get totally confused. This is why you constantly get "incorrect password" or something similar.
Now - you can't change the name of the entry using the drop down list from the extension. What you have to do is go to the main website of the password manager where there is the facility to give individual names to each entry - regardless of the login. In the case of Dashlane, there are three dots at the far right of each entry and clicking on these reveals a drop down menu - one of which is "Edit" that allows the facility to change the name of the entry. In my case, I called one "CAMC Forum" and the other "Caravan Club".
Now, all you have to do is to select each one in turn and log in and if the password is wrong - change it and store it. This time you won't get them mixed up in the future.
One final point -providing you don't log out (via the drop down menu from your avatar in the top right hand corner of the page) you will stay logged into the Forum. Therefore either go straight to it via a desktop shortcut - or log in via the main website and follow the links to the forum from there.
I hope you have followed this ok. It's more difficult to explain in writing that it is to do in practice - but it had me baffled for ages, the first time it happened!!

Good morning Richard,
first of all, thank you very much for your detailed explanation. That sounds very plausible to me, but there must be another cause. I already had the password problem when I didn't have forum access. I've tried a number of things to narrow down the problem, such as deleting all browser data, deleting all saved passwords, and testing with Firefox and Edge. None of it helped. I have the login problem on my mobile phone in the app and with the browser, and also with my tablet and PC. I'm really at a loss. Oh well, at least I can get into the forum and get to know you friendly people. That's almost more important to me than access to my camc account. I'll keep testing; I'm sure it will work somehow. Thanks again for your effort, it sounds very plausible anyway.
best regards
Edgar

Good luck @Edgar - I'm sure you'll sort it! Can I also congratulate you on your excellent command of the English language - I think you do yourself a disservice in your other post when you say your English isn't very good. I can't speak German at all - but there again, we're renown for being lazy at speaking foreign languages😉

Hi Richard,
yes, I know that from my wife. She always wants to learn English, but somehow doesn't have the stamina for it. I'm an amateur radio operator, and the 'official language' is English. We have to take a state exam for that, which lasts six hours. If you pass, you get a state license. A basic knowledge of English is required, not mandatory, but probably quite useful. It also helps me keep in touch with my British friends. As a former hobby fireman on historic steam locomotives, I'm also a big fan of British railways and have contact with several associations that look after these old treasures.
I wish you a pleasant day and send many greetings from Ostbevern.
Edgar

Update:
Today I tried logging in with a completely unfamiliar tablet. That didn't work either. Now I'm completely at a loss.
By the way, how do I identify myself at campsites? I only have my membership number, nothing written down, and no access to my account. Will this cause problems when checking in at a campsite?

Edgar, I’m surprised that, despite prompts, no one from CAMC has yet come forward to help you resolve your issues and I have reported this to @Rowena The Community Manager. I hope you get answers soon.

Update 2:
Finally, login problem solved.
How did I do it now?
I created a new login with a different email address. Then I was asked for my member number, which I entered. I was shown two members: myself and my wife. I selected the appropriate ones, changed my password, and ding-dong, I was in. I immediately edited my profile and added some information. I was then able to transfer our two Club Cards to my Google Wallet without any problems. So, all good.I would like to thank all of you for your sympathy and, above all, the good tips and advice. Now our vacation can begin, which we are very much looking forward to.
Thank you all so much,
Edgar & Kerstin 😁
And here are two photos:
Our last trip with the caravan in 2024. We sold the caravan and are switching to a campervan.

Glad you’ve eventually solved it.
Love the dogs!
