Connecting a GasStop shutoff valve

We are thinking of buying one of these, partly for safety purposes but also so we have an idea of when the gas is running out.

Our gas connection in the locker looks like this:

The end hanging down is the connector we usually attach to the gas bottle. Does the GasStop screw into the end of that connector and then we screw the GasStop directly into the gas bottle?

It’s gas so if in doubt, don’t touch it. I suggest you get someone competent to do this for you. I don’t mean to be nasty but if you don’t understand the fittings, you really shouldn’t tinker for the safety of everyone.

Thanks for the reply. It does say 'Easy to install with no technical expertise required', so that's why we thought someone might know. But maybe it's better to ask the dealer next time we take it for a service.

I think that’s a wise move👍🏻. It doesn’t pay to mess with gas.

@netcam For years I used a similar device except mine was made by Gaslow. It should be a perfectly easy DIY job as all you are doing is fitting it inline between the cylinder and the pigtail from the regulator. The fitting into the cylinder and the pigtail into the device are the same so I can't see if you can fit one that you can't fit the other?

That's what we thought. Looks like it is fitted with the gas spanner on both ends. I wanted to see if anyone else here uses one. And also if people attach it each time they connect the gas after arrival on site, or leave it attached on one end for towing.

@netcam The only time you have to remove it is when you change the gas bottle for new one. You might want to look at the Gaslow model as the do one that attaches to the regulator so no need to disturb when you change a gas bottle.
