Advice about towing a large outfit in Scotland please

I would not worry about the road as far as Fort William, assuming you stick to the main roads. The A86 and A82 should be no problem but anything East of these can be difficult for large outfits although most are workable with care. To be honest if you ask the question, you probably do not have he confidence for those.
Roads East of the A9 tend to be single carriageway and can be slow though, so allow plenty of time and don't forget the midge repellent.

Agreed, the roads in Scotland are quite civilised now and they cater for far more than cattle droving.
As ever, I advise avoiding the Loch Lomond stretch of the A82.

I would agree with Tinwheeler, avoid the northern part of the road beside Loch Lomond, too many tour buses and logging lorries, and some very unforgiving stone walls right beside some bends in the road. It is fine up to Tarbet, but if you want to head to Oban and Glen Coe, take a left there and go via Arrocher and Inverary. Have towed that way many times.
Otherwise, remember that buses and HGVs use the roads and they seem to manage OK. Unless a road is marked as unsuitable for caravans or HGVs, I would be happy using it, there are very few parts of the country we have not visited, including the NC500.
On single track roads, the further north you go the better the visibility as there are fewer trees and no hedges like you find further south.
Note…….we also have a large twin axle, towed by a VW Touareg, and live NW of Glasgow.
