I have just returned from a hot trip to Chirk, the van was plastered with dead bugs most of which has come off with washing, but some pink blotches still remain, Any tips on removal as my shampoo has not worked nor elbow grease ?

Car polish. I do whole van every year and the front at least twice. This removes any marks and makes it easier to keep clean.

The problem with a car polish is that is slightly abrasive, so using it removes a miniscule layer of paint on each occasion you use it, which in time reduced the thickness of your unit's paintwork. @Old Tom Joad have you thought of using something like Auto Glym Tar Remover?

Thanks both for the advise, I might just leave it, maybe it'll disappear in time.

Stains are a strange thing. My lovely wife often says the sun will bleach marks out of clothes, and often it does, so I suspect they will fade away. The only ones that I find troublesome are from some leaves, especially oak.

Whilst not exactly the same thing, in Spring of last year when I took the winter cover off our van I noticed pink stains on the 20mm wide white rubber strips that are on the van roof. I checked the front of the van and found the same on the strips there. It had occurred where the cover was sitting on these areas and obviously something in the rain had reacted with the rubber due to the prolonged contact. I washed, bleached, polished and used white spirit and meths, but to no avail. A month or so later I could find no sign of the pink.
