Twin axle motor mover fitted to single axle caravan

I have just bought a used single axle caravan and found that it has a motor mover fitted that is designed for a twin axle van. Its a Truma TE. It works OK but maneuvering in a tight circle is a bit of a challenge. It seems to go round in a series of hops rather than a smooth tight circle. Any advice or experience of something similar greatly appreciated.

Try turning the van by operating the controller to turn the wheels in opposite directions - one forwards, one backwards. The van should then turn within its own length without so much drag. The fact that it’s a mover for a T/A van shouldn’t make any difference.

We have the Truma TE on our twin, the supplied controller will not let you do that as it is intended for a twin and moves like that to release the sideways pressure on the tyres.

You could try contacting Truma to see if the unit can be re-programmed.

When using a 2 wheel twin mover, rather than a 4 wheel, the only way to turn in a shorter space is to do a back and forth “shuffle”

The “shuffle” is time consuming but does work, I do it every time the van goes off and on our driveway. One side forward, turning say to the left, then the other side backwards turning to the right.

It will still do the “hops” as both wheels will move, just one side further than the other.
