Carver cascade2 water heater not working, can anyone help?
Hi everyone, we are new to the whole caravan living. We have just bought our first tourer and we are in it for a couple of weeks. But we have a problem. We were getting hot water but has suddenly stopped. It is a carver cascade 2 unit. The trip switch is ok. There is water coming through the hot taps but not hot. We have gas and on a pitch with electric. Does anyone have any ideas to help us. Many thanks

@Scott01 Some more questions that might help us help you.
What are you using, gas or electric? Does it work on one but not the other?
What trip switch are you talking about and where is it? There are a few options here.
Do you have heating working on gas and/or electric?
I assume the EHU is working for other things like fridge, 240V sockets?
You haven't run out of gas? (daft question I know but worth checking) Likewise have you checked the one/off switches for the heater and charger and main off switch.
On occasions where things have stopped working for us and we can't see a reason after checks we do a 'full reset' which means pretending to start up everything as if you've just arrived, it's worked on occasion.

Thank you for answering.
The gas heating is working fine, and I have just put a new bottle on. Evidently it can work on both electric and gas. The trip switch is on the hot water tank, and sometimes trips. Everything else is working fine. I had to move pitches the other day so have done a reset. But I still can't get hot water, I'm stumped

@Scott01 Thanks, is the heating working on electric? If not that would show a problem with the electrics.
What have you selected to power the water heater? Gas or electric?
Is the water heating on gas? If so then the electric heating element may have gone, or the trip switches for the heater MCBs (miniature circuit breakers) in the 'fuse box' or consumer unit may have tripped. Lastly check any fuse for the heater unit.
I assume you have checked the heater on/off switch which on ours in next to the main electric on/off and charger on/off?
Are there any error codes or lights in the control unit. Ours shows red if the electric/gas is not connected when selecting either?
I can only add to try a reset now and failing that see if there is a mobile caravan engineer in your area?

Hi Scott, it’s annoying but not the end of the world if it has to wait till you get home. None of our caravans in 50 years had hot water installed. We lived without it and wandered over to facilities block to wash. Life went on.

@Scott01 So from what you have said its just not working on electrics? The trip switch I assume is the one under the slide over cover on the actual boiler? Not being disrespectful but the Cascade is quite an old system now and its possible that the electric heating element has gone. You probably need someone to test the electrics on the boiler. If you check out on YouTube there are probably videos explaining how to change the element.
