Motorhome visitors, have you ever thought about hiring a car whilst staying on site? 🚗

Well, we've made it easy for you to explore the surrounding area with a car hire option from our friendly local independent garage who will collect you from our CL and bring you back when you're done.

We have excellent public transport links including bus, train and taxi, but having access to a car provides you with the freedom to visit all the amazing attractions that are a little further afield. Plus, as our guest, you'll enjoy a discounted rate, and with hire starting from just £33 per day, we think that's a bargain not to be missed! 👍️

You will find all the booking information in our downloadable Digital Guidebook and you will find the link for that in your confirmation of booking email.

Our CL site is near the beautiful and historic city of Lincoln. We're super easy to find and access, only 10 minutes from the A1 at Newark, no narrow lanes to negotiate and 20ft wide coded access security gates with 24 hour CCTV.

We offer fully serviced hard standing pitches, free WiFi and a 2.5 mile private dog walk direct from the site.

Find loads more information, check availability and book your stay with us online via our website

Good idea. I have seen similar in France. With the ever growing number of motorhomes its something for the Club to think about?

Great idea. Innovative for a CL. Deserves to bring more clients in.

As for the CAMC, they should have been doing this years ago. With their potential client base wanting such a service they should be able to get one of the Nationwide firms interested.

At one time CAMC had a tie up with Enterprise which included delivery to/from a site and a discount on hire charges. Does this no longer exist?

I do remember that @Tinwheeler and had cause to use it about 20 years ago.

@Tinwheeler I suspect I am a bit out of the loop but they certainly did have a tie up with Enterprise as we made us of the offer when we went to the IOW a few years ago. They were good in that they picked us up from the site and returned us once the hire period was over. But, and its not a major but, you have to allow at least a couple of hours for each leg of the hire. The advantage of having a car direct from the campsite is that its on the doorstep and you could basically hire like you would an electric (or non electric) bike from a campsite. It would just be more convenient. Its any one's guess whether the Club would be interested, either currently or in the future? You sort of get the impression that they want to reduce the things that site staff have to do, rather than increase it? I can see it working for the CL who posted originally as they will probably get more customers because of the service offered and one car might be enough to meet demand. Perhaps might not work as well if a small fleet of cars was required?

I recall investigating Enterprise in view of the offered discount @DavidKlyne but, in the event, we didn’t use them.

One thing dog owners need to be aware of is that not all hire companies will allow our furry friends in their cars.

We were @Skybarn Farm CL , earlier this month - been going there every year since we first got Meg - and she's eleven and a half now! It has to be the best and most professionally run site we have stayed on. Being ex- caravanners / motorhomers, Nicola and Richard are well aware of what will enhance guest's experience, and are also excellent at opening up opportunities for other local businesses - such as a nearby Safefill gas supplier.

I haven't bothered using their free Wifi in the past, but this year decided to give it a go and was amazed to be getting almost 90Mbps download and about 50 upload. Now that is a real benefit - unlike some of the pathetic 'free' offerings elsewhere!

I was also pleased that with a combination of solar panels, power pack and Safefill, I got my electricity down to just over £1 per day (at the beginning of March!) - so total daily cost for the fully serviced pitch was about £22😀. Just need to keep going there for the next 300 years to get my investment back😂.

Skybarn owners deserve praise for their initiative, and I can see why motorhomers staying there would need it. As an alternative for them the site run by Lincoln City Council in Hartsholme Country Park is close to the city and has a bus service to go in and out .

I had a look at the members benefit section and it appears Enterprise will pick you up from site and take you to their hire place to pick up the car. It's assumed they'll also take you back! You do get a members discount.

I haven't investigated T&Cs. Leave that to the members who want to use it.

@Wherenext yes they do pick you up from the site and take you back after the hire period. At least that is what they did for us and I imagine its standard practise. I think the point I was trying to make is that you have to plan for each leg to take up to a couple of hours by the time you complete documents and there being someone available to ferry you around. Probably suits longer hire periods than just a few days. On the plus side it did allow us to get to parts of the Island which would have been more difficult without the hire car. We were at Southlands when we hired the vehicle, had we been on a site nearer to a bus route I don't think we would have bothered as the bus services on the Island are pretty good and no charge with a bus pass.

    Hi David,

    Thanks for your comments.

There is a fleet of cars for hire, not just one, and at very reasonable hire rates 😁

    Best wishes
    Nicola

    Hi Tinwheeler,

Dogs are allowed in the hire cars mentioned in my post. They simply ask that the vehicle is not returned in a muddy mess which is a fair request 😁

    Best wishes

    Hi @richardandros (Meg too 😍)

It was so lovely to see you again, we always look forward to your visit each year.

Thank you for your very kind words about our CL and how we run it, we are both very proud of our CL and what we offer and appreciate your positive feedback.

As you say, it's not just car hire offered but Safefill five minutes down the road too. We also have a partnership with our local Giant Bike Store where our visitors receive a discount on the hire of any of their hire bikes, including ebikes and tandems. It's a great way to try an ebike out if you've never ridden one but have thought about buying one.

I'm very pleased to also read your feedback on our complimentary WiFi and the great download speeds you were getting 👌

Best wishes and well done on the cost of your electric….again 😉
    Nicola
