Tax for Motorhomes from 1st April

I have just rung the DVLA and asked about the above and they were next to useless.

I have a 'V' reg Ford Herald and I am concerned that this may be hit with an exceptionally high tax.

I have read numerous things about motorhomes being in the same category as Light vans that weigh under 3.5T but cannot find anything concrete on this.

Can anyone help please as I have it off the road at present and wonder of I need to tax it now to avoid a big shock.

Thanks in advance

I don't think many of the changes will impact on you other than perhaps an inflation linked element? The main changes seem to be that EV's will no longer be zero VED. Also some quite big increases in first year VED for cars over £40,000. I think Government has stayed away from increasing taxes on older cars simply because they would get diminishing returns. I suspect they leave it to local councils with LEZ to tackle older vehicles?

I think you are correct but really don't want a nasty shock and wondered if anyone else is in the same category as me

I keep reading articles telling us how all ICV vehicles will be hit one way and another but other than the info on 2025 rates nothing looks certain. I think you need to look at the figures for your vehicle, do the maths and see how you would come out.

If you are looking at six months tax then to get in September you will have to wait until March to get that last month.
