Another one gone!!

After trying a booking on the C&CC web site for a pitch on their Nairn site without success I have just found out, following a phone call to their booking office, that it has closed, & although still listed on their web site they are in the process of removing it. I am surprised that it has closed, with it being quite busy when we were there last spring, but it did have a temporary toilet block and they have also 2 other more popular sites not very far away. Such a shame though, as far as we are concerned.

Or might it reopen in private hands like Marazion and Broomfield Farm? Independent owners can often do things more economically.

It would be good if they did but finding that out might be a problem.

Looking at the latest reviews it seems that the facilities are pretty poor. The original toilet block is closed and replaced by a portacabin. I wonder if that suggests its a site without much future even before it was closed. Like the CMC the C&CC has quite a few leased sites and these are the ones that always seem vulnerable to closing?

And it’s reported elsewhere that C&CC have “sold” their Kelvedon Hatch campsite. But I am only the messenger on that.

It is showing as being open both this year and next on their booking app, but a trial booking for early July comes up with no pitches available, so it looks as if your information is correct, ET

@Fozzie the easiest way to find out is to phone their site booking centre, as that is what I did with regards to the Nairn site.

@Fozzie I have just tried a couple of trial bookings at K H, for June and Sept and on both times the response was "It looks like we couldn't find any pitches that match your criteria". This is the same message I received when trying for a pitch at Nairn before I phone to find out that it was no longer opening, so I suggest that the same applies to K H.

There’s no problem with them having more than 5 pitches but by having more than 5 occupied at a time they put the whole of CAMC's right to issue exemption certificates at risk and thereby threaten the continuance of all CLs. It is good news for all members that CAMC acted. If the sites continue in business without the necessary permissions, it’s their heads on the block and not CAMC's.

@Wildwood there a few sites that have both CLs and CSs on the same propery. I guess there is no problem as they are separate areas with their own set of facilities such as drinking water. We are in fact going to such a location towards the end of our trip.
