Lynn Peninsula

Looking for a CL or small site mid/far west of the peninsula for this summer. Any advice and recommendations would be very much appreciated.

Whenever I have sought recommendations for sites on the Llŷn (I am assuming that is where you mean) the other Club’s CS, Tyn Ddol in Llanystumdwy (birthplace of Lloyd George), is invariably suggested. But we have never been able to book a pitch so it is obviously popular. We have stayed instead at the C&CC site nearby in the same village.
If you travel in a motorhome, my advice would be to stay somewhere on a bus route to Porthmadog (Llanystumdwy is) as from there are plenty of bus services to places further afield, as well as a choice of narrow gauge rail lines and a main rail line.

Highly recommend NANT CL Site 1981 in current Handbook - but book early popular site.
Plenty of space and close (but not too near!!) Abersoch.

How far down the peninsula do you want to go Micky? As far as Aberdaron or are you happy with Pwhelli?
We haven't been right down the peninsula for quite some years so not fair to give any recommendations but did stop at a smashing CL, Penrallt Bach on the edge of Llanstumdwy, about 3 years ago and would happily return if visiting the area again. You can access bus from just around the corner. I understand the C&CC site at Llanstumdwy can be a bit sloping but that is another option.

@mickysf we stopped at the C&CC's Llanstumdwy site last year. It was fine but as others have said rather sloping unless you get one of the lower HS pitches. Very easy to get to, being close to the main coastal road, but quiet enough. Not sure if we would return but certainly worth a visit.

@mickysf I have just seen this newly promoted CL on FB which might be worth an investigation on your part. It looks much better on its own web site than it does on the link below.

Good question, Micky. But without knowing whether you would like a small site with toilets, showers, and electricity, or even one with hard standing and serviced pitches, or just a site in a field with a tap and a pit, it’s hard to answer.

Wouldn't use this site again, when we visited the road noise was horrendous. Felt sorry for the wardens who were brilliant but had to help every van onto a pitch and level up. On the plus side the area was amazing one of the best places for us was up by Capel Pennant and following the lane to the end by the Afon Dwyfor and also driving out around Ynysypandy slate mill .

@Frank Gill we did not find the noise excessive but we were not there during the summer holiday period. I do agree about how good the wardens were but not all of the pitches required their assistance with regards to levelling, as you imply.
