Swift spare wheel mounting in gas locker

We had a swift Sprite Alpine 2 caravan and the spare wheel was mounted vertically in the gas locker.

We have now moved to a Swift Sprite Major 4 SB and the spare in under the fixed bed taking up room and putting weight to the back of the caravan.

Is there a kit that can be used to mount the Spare in the gas locker.

Two things to consider in my opinion.

Firstly, is there room in the front locker? Secondly, moving the wheel will increase your nose weight and you need to check if the increase will be within tolerance.

Like Tinwheeler I would be concerned about the nose weight. Using a bit simplified maths, moving a 20kg wheel from 1m behind the axle to 2m in front would increase the nose weight by 60kg.

There is another option and that is to use the Alko 'under chassis' spare wheel carrier (I assume they are still being sold?) but beware posters on here have said that if you don't keep it well lubricated when (and hopefully never) you come to use it it will be seized up with road grime and difficult to get to as one side will be lower than the other, in fact once bitten they moved it to under the bed for easier access. You could position underneath it to be more or less in the same place (horizontally) as it is now.

Both our Swift caravans had the spare wheel under the bed rendering 90% of the storage space unusable. We fitted the spare wheel under the chassis using the ALKO kit. When the the caravan is serviced the engineer checks the chassis mount and tyre to make sure they're in good order.

It can be tricky getting it out depending on the terrain as you might have to jack up the caravan to extract it but still worth it in my opinion.

Way back in the 1970s we had a spare for our caravan and carried it either in the car or under a bunk. OH sewed a zipped canvas cover for it so the tyre did not make anything dirty.
