Campsite Recommendations

we are looking at the south west for an Easter school holiday break.
We did look at steamer Quay, but appears more suitable for motorhomes rather than caravans.

we’re looking at Ramslade, as we’ve already been to hillhead… would be interested in people’s thoughts on any other club site options in the area…

Is this the same question you asked in your other thread?

You could travel a bit further to the Looe site or head to Exmoor and the sites there. If you’re happy to use a non-facility site, I recommend Stover on the edge of Torbay yet also convenient for Dartmoor. Kiddies' rides and shopping exist at Trago Mills near Stover.

it is a similar question yes, after abit of personal research I was still looking for opinions of other club members.

Thanks for your comment, Looe’s abit too far on for us, but is on the list for the future.

    Gotta love trago mills! :)

Have you read the site reviews for the sites in the area? They should help.

I would steer clear of Ramslade as access, in my opinion, is (or can be) problematic. Access to Stover however is very easy and the site is well located. It wouldn’t be for me though as I require the usual facilities. As a local alternative we quite often use ‘Twelve Oaks’ just outside Newton Abbot. They have the added benefit of a swimming pool, although it might still be on the cool side around Easter. They have some fully serviced pitches should you require them, spotless facilities and a play park. The only downside is that they charge for kids, and they’re not a club site, but might be worth checking them out.

If I knew whether you wanted to visit Cornwall or Devon, the south coast, north coast or even inland it would narrow things down a bit. There are good sites in all those areas but the locations vary enormously.
How about Harford Bridge atTavistock, a smart site on the river bank, with interesting places in every direction all around. And Tavvy is a much nicer town than Totnes. Come on down !

Tavistock is indeed lovely, and we prefer it to Totnes. You have easy access to the whole of wonderful Dartmoor as well, plenty for the little ones to do and see.

This is a site we fancy, often recommended on here, unless I am mistaken I think it’s on the ACSI list as well, possibly discounted?

You are not mistaken, it is in the ACSI discount scheme for 2025. However, unlike in France there are lots of excluded periods. See valid dates on photo.

@SteveL Thanks for that, I thought it was. Doesn’t surprise me it’s only certain times though. Typical for UK.

A couple of years ago we stayed at a commercial site called Lady's Mile at Dawlish Warren. The site is pretty massive but split into different areas. Lots of facilities including a swimming pool, bar, shop. See my review below.
