Have you towed with a Qashqai Tekna Dig-T

Hi we have always towed with a Freelander so no weight issues but we have now changed our car to the Qashqai and are looking to buy another caravan. The MTPLM is 1300 but we wondered if anyone has actually towed with the same model and what thoughts they had on the capability of the vehicle.

    Are you talking MTPLM of a caravan or kerb weight of your car? I’m confused because MTPLM refers to a caravan but you don’t seem to have one. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Hi thank you for taking the trouble to respond.

    I don't think you have read my message correctly as in the message I say that we are looking to buy another caravan.

    The 1300 refers to the maximum MTPLM of a caravan that our car will tow - and we just wondered if anyone on the forum had the same car as us and had towed a caravan with it and how it performed.

    It looks a nice car but would you plan to tow over Alpine passes with me? Northbound over the Col de Tenda and you might struggle, so it all depends where you plan to go - even in UK.

    You’re welcome. I did read your post correctly but you didn’t state that 1300kg is the towing limit of the car. However, thanks for clearing the confusion.

    If 1300kg is the max your car can tow, you’ll ideally be looking for a van lighter than that as the max the manufacturer has stated will have been tested in certain set circumstances and not with a high sided caravan.

    Someone with a similar car may come along and a mod may move your thread into towcars which could help.

    Familylitton have you tried any, or better still a few, of the caravan/car matching services, including the CC's, This should give you a good idea of what you can tow.

    thank you for your advice but we were hoping that someone on this forum actually owns a car like ours and has towed with it and can tell us what they think

    have you looked in the Towcar section of this forum to see if anyone mentions the Qashqai? I don’t think it’s popular as a towcar.

    I think you will be lucky if you find another owner with the same car here. The very low towing limit means not many people could use it as a tow car so numbers of owners will be very low. Tests of other models have been positive though with good stability. If you can find the caravan that suits you within the towing limit it should work well enough although the lower power model might be sluggish. If you have gone for the lower power version I would try to stay well under the towing limit.

    That was very helpful thank you. We have the turbo charged model so hopefully will be ok if we find a van the correct weight. We only need a 2 berth thankfully
