Trailer Tents
Hi Everyone,
I’m looking to buy a trailer tent (Trigano Galleon) and wondered if campsites have any size restrictions? It’s quite large, so hopefully someone on here has experienced using one at a club site?

The Community Manager, Rowena, is a trailer tenter and I’m sure she’ll be able to help. I'll bring your post to her attention.
You may also find some info in the Trailer Tent & Camping section of the forum and the site rules explain the spacing needed for fire protection. Strangely, I don’t thing there’s anything stated about the size of units.

Back in the day we were trailer tenters and loved it. We always asked the wardens before pitching as it wasn’t always fully understood as to how to pitch. The two pegs help these days so as long as all fits between them then all is good. On a few pitches we did have to revolve the unit 90 degrees as it was wider than longer. As long as you can meet the firebreaks, and they are the determining factor, then all should be fine even on a non awning pitch!

That’s great. Thanks for the guidance @tinwheeler and @mickysf.
I did try to search the forums using “trailer tents” but no results returned. I must admit I was surprised, and so I’m glad there is a dedicated section!
Anyway, I’ll take a look at the site rules.

Our pitch sizes vary ranging from from 9 x 9 meter centre, 11 x 11 and 12 x 12 and our fire safety spacing asks that there must be at least 6 metres spacing between facing wall of adjacent caravans, motorhomes or trailer tents and a clear space of 3 metres between adjoining outfits, i.e. awnings etc., in any direction.
The majority of our campsites have a number of larger pitches that can accommodate larger outfits over 8.5 metres. At the time of booking, if you choose a campsite that has a length restriction it will flag this up to you. You can also always call the campsite to check as well.
I hope this helps. As a fellow trailer tenter Club Campsites are perfect as they have amazing facilities.

Yes, we found that a call to the wardens helped a great deal. They know the individual pitches and can, if needed, put a cone on a pitch which will be large enough on the day of your arrival. It’s more them allocating you a pitch rather than reserving one as you loose the ability to choose on arrival, it’s all about size and fire breaks.
The same applies to those larger caravans and motorhomes, those with slide outs and the likes of fifth of wheelers, best to arrange before arriving, saves stressful moments.0
