Shower removal

My husband and I have an Elddis Xplore and never use the shower, he is now thinking of removing the shower and replace it with lightweight shelving. Does anyone know how much it would devalue the caravan by, and would it be easy to sell later if we did

    Agree, don’t remove the shower. Instead put something inside the shower to give you storage and disconnect the water supply to the shower head. Do all this in such a way that you can revert to the original when you sell. 

    We did similar with a couple of our vans and left space in the shower tray for wet shoes etc. it was down reversed when we decided to sell.

    Agree with other comments, don't do it otherwise the caravan could become unsaleable. As suggested there are other ways of using the space.

    Yes, we have only showered in our caravan perhaps three times? We used the three drawer plastic free freestanding cabinets you can get from any B&Q, B&M...  store and a plastic clothes horse.

    One of the reasons we chose our current van is that it has a very large bathroom and an excellent shower and after I changed the standard pumps to Whale Highflows, has a pressure and flow rate as good as that at home. Consequently we never use on-site showers - why would we? A caravan without a decent shower would be a definite 'no' for me - so don't do it.  You'll have lost a significant part of the potential market if you do come to sell, including those that regularly use non-facility sites of one form or another.

    We never use our van shower, it’s our personal choice, so we’ve removed the shower head and blocked the tap off so it won’t accidentally switch on, however we keep the head in the caravan in case we have an unexpected need to use it.

    I think whatever you fit will weigh more than the shower and may make the normally inadequate load allowance just too small as well as affecting the balance.

    I doubt it but it may also affect the structure of the caravan and affect your insurance. I would check both these out first. Certainly if you have reduced the value by altering the caravan, it will be reflected in any insurance pay out.

    As the others say it will probably make the whole thing unsaleable or greatly reduce its value. That may not be a problem if you intend to keep it long term.

    We usually keep the dirty washing in ours.
