    but it also very reasonably priced

    Of course I don't know when you travelled but I've checked for high season and it certainly isn't in my view.

    £35 per night on grass with EHU, add on £3 per night for an awning, £2 per dog per night, an extra car is £3 per night and an extra pup tent is £5 per night, also extra for a gazebo. Yes I know you'll say you don't have any of those but they are all free on a club site and would push the price up quite a bit for the usual awning and dog stayer.

    Match that to harsh T&C. Deposits which is £87.50, which if possible you might get back and the balance payable 28 days before arrival which you won't get back after that 28 days - it says take out travel insurance. Again I know T&C might not apply to you but they should be stated to give a fair comparison to club sites.

    In mid June it's £25 per night on grass which isn't good value to me added to all the rest above.

    Now the real shocker to me at least is a non EHU grass pitch is £30 per night in high season! And all the above.

    Trouble is CS does it encourage people to join? Clearly if a non-member wants to stay at a Club site for a week it would make sense to join as the extra fees would be greater than the annual membership fee. However if the extra fee was say £5 a night I suspect that the Club would benefit from passing trade on some sites. It is just a suggestion that might help make some sites more financially viable or perhaps allow sites to open over a longer season. If that is not perceived as an issue, leave things as they are. It would be interesting to know how many non-members actually stay on Club sites.

    @SteveL +1

    @eurortraveller On club sites you can get a pizza van, a sandwich van, a toastie van and a local fresh fish van.

    There are sites with picnic benches too.

    For the area it is resonably priced, the nearest C&mC site, Godrevy, is £6p.n. more expensive even with the extras many have (dog and awning). For motorhome owners without a dog and not needing an awning, it of course very much cheaper (£11p.n.) and you don't book not to attend so the terms as far as I am concerned are largely irrelevent. As I recall, when I stayed there on a grass with electric pitch the price was £10 per night cheaper than Godrevy which is also all grass pitches.

    Well of course you saying and repeating it's reasonably priced does not make automatically true, just like for me of of course too. But people do take awnings and dogs and so the gap closes, and extra cars which you often do. Also quality comes into it with is subjective.

    Now you've mentioned this you don't book not to attend concept before, as I predicted you would but it does not hold much water. If someone were to book a week's holiday in peak there that is £245, with £61.25 deposit, all payable 28 days before arrival and no refund. Now yes no one (well most) books not to attend but things happen, especially in 28 days, mechanical problems, illness (God forbid) but taking your concept that T&C are irrelevant and that they shouldn't be a consideration is incorrect for many.

    I've asked you this before, you go away abroad and as you fully intend to go, why do you take out travel insurance? I suppose when away, but for the crossing why do you bother?

    To save space: Exotic stuff! You were the one who posted the Greek van picture, even more exotic!

    Location wise, we know both places very well, Marazion and Godrevy. Both sites are very nice, but we haven’t yet been tempted to Godrevy. Marazion was our first choice for many years when we spent most of our time in Cornwall, it was a wonderful site, lots of wildlife, walks, cycle rides, shop not far away, and very easy to get onto Lands End and the Lizard, St Ives and Penzance. It was almost unspoilt, a tiny triangle (Threeways) hidden away, that made little impact onto the landscape. It was touring as it should be for many, basic, self reliant, unfussy. Yes it could get sticky in places if there was prolonged rain, but this could have been resolved to a certain extent if the Club had invested more down the years, I cannot recall down the decades we used it any work other than the 90’s when hook ups were installed. The last time we were there was just over four years ago, and it was exactly the same as it had been for the last 25 years, right down to the potholes on the drive round road. Packed to the gunnels as well, not a spare pitch to be had. It will be our destination if/when we can get back down to Cornwall, as we love it so much. I suppose having loos and showers might feel different, but then that’s why we will pay more. We would use Godrevy at a push, bound to be nice, but it’s up with other holiday camps, much busier.

    People can judge for themselves whether it is a reasonable price or not. the evidence is on the web if they care to check. Tow and towed cars are not charged extra so the difference in peak season between Marazion and Godrevy remains at £6 if you have a dog and wish to erect an awning or £11 if you don't. Oh dear, I am repeating myself again! I never worry too much about the quality or lack of facilities because we have our own in the van.

    As I hope you have gathered, I do not have a pesimistic attitude to the booking of sites, in fact I have already booked a site with a hefty deposit for late next year and will be booking another shortly for mid 2026 for events I want to be present for. Its a loss I am willing to accept in the unlikelyhood of not being able to fulfill these.

    My travel insurance is an annual policy and is mainly taken out to cover medical expenses and other forms of holidays where considerable amounts of money may be involved rather than those taken with a motorhome although even for travel in our motorhome, I consider it rather foolish not to have any insurance at all.

    I rarely book Continental sites before departure. Therefore, no money is involved and Channel crossing tickets can be altered with very little notice so again very little risk. One of the advantages of touring mainland Europe rather than the UK.
