I wasn't sure where to post this, so started a new thread.

This is a "5 minute read" from The Farmers Guardian", written by my son.

2nd.Link better to read than first link as first link needs you to join the Farmers Guardian.

A very interesting article though and I thought the points raised by James to be pertinent. I have heard about the awful toll farming in Wales during Covid had on the mental welfare of isolated hill farmers so good that the mental aspect was also mentioned.

The other way forward was adopted by the New Zealand government nearly 40 years ago when they abolished subsidies and support for their farmers and said “You are running a business, stand on your own feet,  innovate  get profitable” .

Yes, eurotraveller although New Zealand farming appears to be a world away from us in almost every respect we could learn a thing or two from them. An interesting article here puts some of the issues in perspective.

This may or may not work - the text of the FG article pasted into a jpg.

Open in new tab/window to read.
