Probably a silly question about my fridge

Hello,

The back of my fridge is so hot I can feel the heat from the sink above the fridge, and the vent outside is very hot. Is this normal?

Many thanks,

Alice

Have you removed the winter fridge vent covers?

These things (see pic)? If they are the things you were talking about then they were still attached. Thanks so much! That is so helpful!

I assume the vent covers aren’t fitted as standard? My fridge takes an age to get down to temperature, especially during hot weather.

    I’ll have to check.

In my experience, they are usually supplied as standard but not fitted. These days, I suspect some manufacturers may not even supply them.

Covers fitted and removed. The fact it’s a MH makes no difference.

Yes, the difference is pretty obvious (with/without covers). Thing is, I’ve never checked. Pretty sure there was none in the ‘pack’ that came with the van. Like I said, I’ll have to check 👍

Obviously design, colour and make vary.

My van is an old van and probably fitted as standard. I think the size of the photo was to high to upload, but yes the winter vents were still on. I bought this a month ago so still trying to work everything out. Thanks for the tip though, that's super helpful.

I know it sounds counter intuitive but winter covers are really intended to keep the cooling mechanism warm when the temperatures drop. Apparently it can get too cold and will not work effectively when ambient temperatures are very low. However, they do need removing during the warmer months to ensure optimum conditions for fridge use.

Photos often need to be re-sized to fit CT’s meagre limits.

I hope that’s solved the fridge issue. Good luck.
