‘Renaturing’ a golf course
I know a few CTers and club members enjoy their golf but frequently golf courses are rather sterile areas of grassland with a few trees which are quite often very low on species diversity and richness. Now this is how to do it! Well done to this golf club. 👍🏒

A bit on the long side, but I got the gist of it. Our course always seems to be going under some sort of development so trying to set aside land might be troublesome. That said I see lots of wildlife (Deer, Rabbits, Squirrels and Hares) along with a good variety of birds including Kestrels, Buzzards, Woodpeckers and even spotted some Kites a while back. The club is currently installing a solar panel array so it seems the owner (who I am on first name terms with) has at least a certain level of caring for the environment. Next time I see him (might be a while) I’ll have a few words with him and maybe send him the link you provided. Incidentally, a club I used to play at has since closed and is earmarked for a housing development, so it’s not all bad news 😉

We definitely need more housing! Interestingly I read an article recently about ‘naturising’ new housing developments. Not just the estates themselves but those individual houses/dwellings too. A fascinating concept which promotes and builds a wealth of habitats, links between them and provides species rich environments for us to live amongst. It’s happening abroad and here too, just far more slowly and on smaller scales here, I wonder why?
