If the updates had been thoroughly checked prior to launch, there would be no need for this! Once again the ‘club’ are seemingly incapable of getting anything to do with ‘IT’ to work well. Same old, same old…….

The current situation is a pale imitation of its predecessor.

Same for me, ET. The only differences I have noted was when updating my Site Directory and checking the CL listings there do seems to be differences there, but nowt to be bothered with.

I can't see any changes either!

I am running Google Chrome on a Lenovo Chromebook.

The new website is clearly not 'welcoming' me!

I never saw any either until I cleared my cache.

I am now using my Android tablet, and in contrast to my Android phone, which I used earlier, I can now see the difference. Font size now is extremely small, I can hardly read it!  Headings are now bigger too.

How utterly inconsistent; on my Android phone I could see no difference, yet on my Android tablet I can.  Surely should it not be the same whatever system one uses?

Is it me or have they changed to a different, larger text font? Although no change in the reply box text size.

Now you have totally lost me. What on earth is a Cache? Should I get one? Where from? Are they expensive?

Often referred to as your History ET. Your browser uses it to speed things up. Think how slow CT would be without it😂

    From Wikipedia

In computing, a cache is a hardware or software component that stores data so that future requests for that data can be served faster; the data stored in a cache might be the result of an earlier computation or a copy of data stored elsewhere. A cache hit occurs when the requested data can be found in a cache, while a cache miss occurs when it cannot. Cache hits are served by reading data from the cache, which is faster than recomputing a result or reading from a slower data store; thus, the more requests that can be served from the cache, the faster the system performs

Thanks Steve. A 12 year old grandson had already explained to me that if one has been looking at “adult” websites one can delete it so that mummy and form tutor don’t know.  i didn’t know the word Cache  - he used the term Porn.

Today I have noted the difference, larger print posts to view but tiny when trying to post a reply. Have reverted to opening out the reply box to see what I am typing. How very strange, but that is nothing unusual with CT! Is it just me or have they also changed the font format?undecided

Anyone noticed that the page numbers on threads that run into thousands, like in General Chat,  don't have any spacing between them?

Yes, you are correct. I see that the reply text has now shrunk for me now, it was ok before.

I am resisting clearing my cache/history at the moment.🤭

I admit my iPad is getting on, like it’s owner, but it’s not just the small font replies, the bigger font is now making the users name run into their story. Some of the time I now only get half a page loaded. Agree with other statements on here, not sure who this is helping, clearly not the majority. If it’s aint broke don’t fix it comes to mind. There are plenty of other things on here that could do with sorting. I suspect the person changing the font is using an up to the minute device, and it works fine but unfortunately most of your members may not be.  So please don’t bother fixing it, just put it back to how it was, please. (Hope I’ve spelt  most of this right but I can hardly see what I’ve written.)

Is it just me or has the Latest Activity page been affected by the increase in font size?

There seems to be less to see with only the latest 4 or 5 appearing. Sometimes I use LA to get access to a discussion or review, particularly when system blighted by server errors.

BTW - Could the new font size be considered SHOUTING?

Quite agree that the headings are too Black and too Big.

Yesterday the font when posting was too small, whereas today the font is microscopic.

I don't use Latest Activity that much but I am pretty sure its the same as the story and review sections, five items at a time, that has not changed since the "upgrade" of font sizes as far as I can tell.

Oh there have been times David when LA carried a lot more than 5 items. I've trolled through over a dozen quite a few times, many of them reviews, but since the font change it's mostly 5 or 6.

When there's a server error affecting Discussions I've looked for a LA post that was a discussion one rather than a review to find a way in.

5 or 6? Lucky you 😂😂. I only see 3 on my Pad in landscape and 4 in portrait mode.

Since we have been away for the last two weeks, this is the first time I have used my iMac since the changes were introduced. Initially, the font was miniscule and almost impossible to read - despite a 27" screen. Fortunately, by using the Cmnd+ keyboard shortcut, I can increase the font size to a sensible level but the type is 'wishy/washy' and nowhere as clear as it previously was.

If this change was meant to be an improvement, then someone has got things seriously wrong.

Agreed, Richard. I do wish they wouldn’t fiddle with things that aren’t broken.

Whoever said the locations have vanished from our avatar details is absolutely right. Cornwall still shows in my profile but doesn’t appear here.

TW, having seen you comment about locations I have only just realised they have disappeared! The location is quite handy when people ask questions about routes.

On a slightly different tack I try and read through the reviews everyday if I can. For a while now if you read an individual review and use the back button it has taken you back to where you were. Last night it started to take me back to the Latest Activity page as it used to. Don't understand how the website is so inconsistent?

To be honest I’ve been contributing on here and reading posts for years, from the beginning in fact, but this latest change is possibly the final straw. Reply font too small, users names running into their posts as reading font so big, it seems to now take ages to load and I now often only get half a page, all since these changes to, ‘make significant improvements and make using the website more enjoyable’, sorry Rowena we know it’s not your fault. So now after all these years I’m seriously thinking of just giving up on it, it’s just too much hassle and definitely Not enjoyable any more.

Debsc, you are letting it stress you. Switch off for a fortnight, leave it alone, have a holiday. It really isn’t important. Be happy again.

Oh - I hadn't spotted that Tinny - until you mentioned it. Why on earth has that been done? It was actually quite useful to know where people where from - added relevance to some of their comments - and also provided the opportunity for a bit of banter!  I got to know where people were scattered - Rufs in Hampshire - heddlo here in E. Yorks - mickysf on t'other side of the Humber etc etc. and it all helped to build up a mental picture of everyone. That will disappear now.  What a shame.

Oh Euror if this stressed me I’d be a really happy bunny. Sadly many things going on in family that do stress us. This is a very, very minute irritation compared to other much more important things in our life at present. No chance of a holiday at the moment. However, someone in IT does need to be told this is not working.
