Wifi installation

Morning all,

Sorry if this has been posted before.

We have a 2022 swift caravan, we were thinking of having wifi installed. We looked at a system which involves drilling a hole in the roof for fitting and wiring.

Worried about any warranty claims we contacted Swift customer service, we were told it had to be done by a nominated dealer or aws fitter this makes sense.

Unfortunately we were then told even if we did this and had an issue and there was say water ingress, the warranty cover or claim would be swifts decision 😕. They would determine then if it was a fault of ours.

The moral of this story is just check before carrying out any install on your van.

After a lot of research, searching previous posts and some great advice from the group I've got myself internet ready for the caravan. If you can pick up 4G in your van on your phone the following will work for you, at an attractive price.

Our home broadband was up for renewal. We had a regular package and got about 15 mb as high speed is not available in rural Devon. I saw a 4G deal with 3 available, unlimited broadband for £11 a month of 6 months then full price £22 for 18 months. https://www.three.co.uk/broadband/home-broadband.
I'm getting 15-45 mb in the house and have logged laptop, tablet, mobiles and firestick into the router. The idea is we can take the router with us anywhere in the UK and access our unlimited broadband. Today I finished wiring a socket up in the van above the wardrobe [and broke the bathroom mirror] I plugged router in and waited. As I have an aluminium roof on my Eriba I was not sure how I'd get on. What a result, phone and tablet immediately locked on, so I tried TV with the Firestick and its perfect.
Next step is I've bought a TP Link router for when abroad. https://www.johnlewis.com/tp-link-m7350-...router/p3129652 T. I'm going to get a Smarty 15Gb data only sim for £9 which should do the job. https://smarty.co.uk/all-plans#data-only

If moving the router around from house to van does not work for you, and you are just interested in UK, then use the TP Link with a EE sim, This one gives twelve month from when activated, or until it runs out of data. You have to buy it from Argos.
