Having become a widower at the relatively young age of 62, I find myself alone with a lovely caravan, and not really wanting to sell it.

I am not really made for being alone, and wondered if we have any like minded Ladies, not a million miles away from the West Midlands, who are in a similar situation, and might like to become caravan companions ?

there are lots of little clubs around, we have actually met up with them when they have rallied on CMC sites.

It reminds me of the legendary advert in Farmers Weekly….”Single lady with tractor seeks gentleman companion with trailer. Please send photograph of trailer”.

I agree with Tinwheeler - try out The New Companions Camping Club. A great club for those who camp alone for whatever reason. The Club is NOT a singles club, marriage bureau or dating agency. Just a safe place for meeting like-minded people all over the U.K. and abroad.

I recently bought a lovely Adria caravan, which I hoped to spend lots of time in with a partner. Unfortunately my partner deserted me in Switzeland. To my horror I was left with in my caravan and no car to tow me. I'm still suffering from disbelief. Fortunately I'm back home with my caravan. I love the peace and joy the caravan brings me, not to mention visiting new and old places. its daunting travelling alone and can be lonely as most caravaners are couples and families.

Oh, what a sad story Emelda. !! Many on on there own prefere a Motorhome. In your own space ,in your own time ,without returning to the same site etc .Moving on if you don't like it .Maybe think along those lines?? There are lots of Mo-Ho's owners that tour on there own .Even long term ,or just week ends.Good luck ,settle down & enjoy freedom !!

    Emelda,

Don't let it put you off. I am recently back from a solo 16 day holiday in Europe (France,Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland and Lake Como). I find it helps enormously to have a few phrases of greeting mastered in most languages. When I make the effort most people will chat back sometimes in broken English. (I met a lovely couple from Lichtenstein on Lake Como in that way!)

In my case it does help that I have family in Switzerland and I build an annual trip around them but I had a week near Dieppe in July and have already booked to do something similar late April 2025 pottering around Normandy (and obviously some UK trips as well).

    Enjoy!!
