The dates for part seasonal pitches in spring and autumn, and also full seasonal pitches are available to view on the website before you fill in the online form cranman. No point wanting something that's not available in the first place.

I get your point in the sense that one should not waste time asking for something that is not available on, as it were, the menu. Costa do not sell Walker's crisps, so there's no point me asking for them. But it doesn't stop me wanting Costa to stock Walker's crisps (extreme example because Costa is owned by Coca-Cola and Walker's is owned by PepsiCo).

I read Crannman's post as meaning that he had been given to understand that there were full seasonal pitches at Sutton-on-Sea (never sure if that should be hyphenated), but that he was disappointed to find that seasonal, in that case, and at other places, means something rather narrow and not what many would think of as seasonal at all.

I must say I have often thought this myself. It is a point worth making.

I accept that there may be a hundred and one reasons why making full seasonal pitches available is a non-starter. One or more of which might well be monetary. But, again, it doesn't stop Crannman wanting them and even arguing for them.

Given all the anecdotal information we get on here about the occupancy levels of some sites I wonder if the Club might expand the seasonal offer? My understanding has always been that season pitches are only offered on sites that have difficulty meeting certain levels of occupancy at certain times of year?

Try Kirkstead Holiday Park nearby. Their website offers seasonal pitches for 9 months from 1st March to 30th November priced at £1500 for a tourer.

I assume the "mid season" dates are not bookable as seasonable, as they are likely to be booked by touring memmbers. Not all sites have seasonal pitches, and not all of those have full seasons.

So the OP was advised (wrongly) to ask for a full seasonal pitch at Sutton on sea that doesn't have full seasonal pitches for sale, who knows why? But it's quite simple to see on the website what is on offer at all sites with seasonal offerings. Many sites offer part seasonal pitches in spring and autumn and not a full season probably because during the main season the touring pitch demand is high enough not to warrant them. My point is that it's plainly advertised what's on offer.

I believe the OP has discussed this at length on Facebook and had advice from head office. Nothing's changed.

You're just repeating your original point. I got it the first time - as I said in my post.

I really wonder if you read my post. You've clearly missed the point I was trying to make and which, I think, the OP was making.

Also, why do you say "nothing's changed"? Who said anything had changed? What's your point?

So my point is, the op has the opinion that a part seasonal pitch isn't really a seasonal pitch which you agree with. Part seasonal pitches have been around since I started with the club 13 years ago and are very popular, that's why I said nothing has changed. I mentioned that the op had received information from the club on his similar post on Facebook. Maybe he could share that here?

The obvious point is, what's the point in asking for something that's not available?

I can go a bit earlier, JK. We had an Autumn part seasonal pitch at Godrevy in 2005 and they were around before that. It varied site to site and year to year as to which sites offered seasonal pitches and which type they offered - Spring part seasonal, all season, Autumn part seasonal and so on. I’m guessing it depends on the pattern of bookings as to which part of the year, if any, is offered as a seasonal of whatever duration. Perhaps the OP hasn’t come across part seasonals before🤷🏻‍♂️.

Yes we had one in 2003 at Troutbeck Head and it was from late September to just past Christmas although we removed the caravan just before then. As I recall there was a part seasonal from March to May as well.

     Evening

I'm still on my rest days but having a brew with the staff at the site I'm on, the talk got to next years seasonal pitch uptake. By all accounts most sites with a seasonal offering be it part or full are having lots of interest for 2024. My site is close to a waiting list only 2 weeks after the pitches went on salesurprised. As Fred Pontin used to say, "Book Early"
