Commercial van and awning

Hi, We are about to retire ,and thought about using my unwritten van and an awning both in the uk and if we enjoy it europe as well.It doesn't have any side windows,but is a basic clean van.

It seems though that there may be a problem with a commercial van and awning on some sites,is that right?

We will never be able to afford a campervan or caravan, and, sleeping in a tent wouldn't be an attractive option for us.
