And those who get all their nature knowledge from TV programmes do everything, led by some " so called celebrities" to stop any attempt at control. They have the time, resources and lobbying capacity whilst those of us in the countryside have no time as we are trying to earn a proper living.

For those interested in nature revival here is a map of the growing number of project across the UK. There is soon to be one local to us Humber Region) being added, news of that later in the year I’m told. Many are open to visitors and te ones we visit are seen incredible results in species diversity.

With CaMC sites like Nunnykirk, River Breamish and Berwick Seaview close to hand this latest rewilding project will see local communities, farmers, land owners and The National Park working together for the betterment of Nature. Well worth planning a future trip me thinks!

I know many of us ‘campers’ really enjoy the great outdoors and nature so here’s news of a really exciting new rewilding project worthy of consideration for next year’s travels. An historical family estate which has now transformed itself from almost a monoculture to a diverse nature rich environment, brilliant. Not far from Skipton with Bolton Abbey and Warfedale club sites close by. It’ll be on our list.

Now there’s an idea, that would rightly help monitor the visitor numbers to the occupancy of 5 vans and pressure on these developing habitats. 👍
How about this though, what a truly inspirational and equally forward thinking rewilding initiative. A must visit in my opinion. The momentum is growing and building and the naysayers are now fewer in number and increasingly becoming like fish out the water. An inspirational insight here.

The only place we have ever seen “glow worms” was at Marazion Club Site on our long hot Summers spent there. They could often be found outside the site, on the bend where the back road to Marazion veered off, just before the site entrance. We spotted them for years, but then they got rarer and rarer.

Here is a recent update and links to a wonderful rewilding project in Dorset where in just a couple of years a whole range of species that had been missing for decades are now returning and breeding. Haycraft, Hunters Moon and Crossways C&MC sites close by for those wishing to plan a visit to this area and the several nature reserves thereabouts.

Brilliant news today, farmers, crofters, land owners, RSPB and other conservation agencies working together to promote particular ‘wilder’ habitats for the endangered corncrake. It’s working and the numbers are rising. Similar projects now going ahead in Northern Ireland and Eire. May be more across the UK in those likely habitats?

Just seen on the news that pine martens are being reintroduced at this National Trust Rewilding Project. Coincidentally I think I saw one in Kildale at the weekend.

Here is a new and novel nature recovery plan aiming to restore some of the Humberside more urban habitats and environments. The project is being carried out by Hull and East Riding Councils. Once past the planning and initial development stage this may be worth a Visit. The Bridlington C&MHC site being the closest to ‘hand’!

The Ruff- A rarely seen bird today but in my youth they were around albeit in fairly small numbers. This iconic wader used to breed in a few locations around the Humber but not recently. There has been a serious decline due in part to agricultural changes on both coasts of the North Sea. However, a new project hopes to reintroduce them. Never seen them in lek, it’s supposed to be a delightful thing to observe, hopefully there will be a chance in the future though.

A new restorative woodland project has been announce by a North Yorkshire Shooting Estate.
“The Mulgrave Estate is famous for its ancient trees and historic landscape. Apart from commercial timber production and firewood sales, the estate’s woodland programme focuses on the importance of creating and maintaining a thriving and diverse woodland habitat and an attractive environment.”
Let’s hope their efforts will prove to be in all nature’s interests and be raptor tolerant. Hope so!

A new educational and awareness raising initiative here possibly leading to the reintroduction of Lynx, a much needed apex predator in this environment many believe. Good to see farmers hopefully contributing to the discussions,There is much work to be done, mind but what a fabulous achievement this would be if it comes to be.

Another promising reintroduction-Norfolk Corncrake.
That’s a must visit to hear and hopefully see this iconic species for the first time in my life. 2025 will see our triennial return to the Norfolk C&MC sites in pursuit of these and other species.

Now this is an ambitious Rewilding plan. 👍Create the UK’s highest nature reserve and restore montane environments including peat bogs and that temperate rain forest of which we have practically lost all in England due to human action over the centuries.
