Stayed there last June and didn't see any problems with visitors getting to the site, all either drove a car towing a caravan or drove a motorhome.

It was not for the LVs in and out that that my comments are aimed at how far is it for those on two legs to reach the Wells town centre?

Unless I've missed something , I can't understand why tents are £10 per night cheaper. Not that I will be going to either site .

I think it's the same distance from the site to the town not matter how you travel.

Wells nts is one of my fave places & I’ve walked the pinewoods to wells centre numerous times, I’m sure it’s sub 1mile, if I couldn’t walk that distance I’d question continuing driving tbh🤷🏻‍♂️🙁

Why is the inability to walk a mile, and back again, related to ability to drive?

It may not be to you but I’m a yomper who don’t want to rely totally on a vehicle. Plus I’d worry breaking down/accident in remote areas & not being mobile.

    PS & ‘back again’ wasn’t my point👍🏻

... but the pop up site is a 'field'...a nice field, i grant you (we cycled there from Lymington to visit the Motor Museum)...but a field all the same.

i cant see it can be compared on price to a proper commercial site...

im comparing it to all the many 'pop up' THS sites that we use each year, usually around £10.

I don't mind the club adding bits and pieces but (to me) the idea of these sites is that they are 'temporary' and I don't expect them to be the same as Club sites nor priced the same.

IMHO, they've created a large CL and should be priced accordingly at around £20 absolute tops.

the Club use the same process for their pop up site at the NEC...smelly generator, large plastic containers of black waste....£40 odd quid please.

    Errrr, No thanks.

here's our van at a pop up campsite, next to a stately home (a very famous former owner) ....and a vineyard, with hook up and pitching for two nights....how much....?

    free, incl the electric.

The Club seems to have an aversion to NON-EHU!

Even ClubFest is all EHU pitches and one price fits all and you WILL pay towards the entertainment whether you want it or not!

Now they are proposing losing the non-EHU pitches at Steamer Quay.

You can't just get a sandwich. It's the full four course meal even if you're not particularly hungry.

Yes you've mentioned this before but it really doesn't stand up, if you aren't particularly hungry then you don't go in to a restaurant that sells a four course set meal, or maybe you personally do? You go to a sandwich shop? You're making it sound as if club sites are the only choices?

You keep posting these types of posts CY yet have stated that you won't be using a club site even if a non EHU option is offered, yes you can state your point of view but it's so often with this type of post so I'm wondering who these posts are aimed at or what you're hoping to achieve?

The club isn't going to offer what you want anytime soon, so why not accept it and move on? You've said that the CCC is more MH orientated so use them, there's usually a CCC site near to a club site?

But the Club is supposed to be all inclusive and by not offering the opportunity to have the sandwich, it is not. However, I guess if it can fill the restaurant then there is no chance of buying a sandwich there and your right CS we will have to go elsewhere. Soon there will be no reason to be a Club member.

Really, you see what? And what an amazing statement? When it suits me?

So by the same logic it's not inclusive when it doesn't suit you then?

But when, and please quote me here, did I say it was anything to do with me in my post above?

Am I the only member of the club? Am I the only one that uses club sites? Am I forcing anyone to join the club and then pay to use its sites as they are? But hundreds of thousands do?

Am I the one who keeps asking for change just because it doesn't suit me in the way, it must be said, that you often do with metering? Why not just choose sites that have what you want. You often post there are cheaper and better sites (and whether not I agree with that is beside the point - you believe it) out there so why not use them?

The club is totally inclusive of anyone who wishes to pay to either join it or use its sites. You appear to make out someone who has paid is being left out? In which case why did they join, rejion, and continue to use club sites? As in fact you do.

If the club doesn't offer what you want, as in all things in life and business, then one goes elsewhere. As you said yesterday - move on.

I find it odd that on one hand there is a great push to having all pitches on all sites (where possible) turned to hard standing because "you said, we listened", and on the other hand pop-up sites that are just a field - as sites used to be.   Is it a test to find if they have got their policy wrong?

Not sure there is any comparison or muddled thinking. Pop Up sites are open for a few weeks in the middle of summer when, hopefully, you should experience better weather. Club sites are usually open for a minimum of six months and usually 10/12 months where you are likely to need a more durable surface. Many of us have been telling the club for years now that we wanted to be able to book a hardstanding pitch rather than take pot luck and thankfully they have listened and acted.

The club enabling members to choose a HS at booking time is a different proposition to having HS being the default selection due to the club's determination to iron out all the 'interesting foibles' (character) of some sites.

yes, where HS pitches are available, I'm sure that having that choice is 'what members want'...but I'm equally sure there are plenty of members who would like their 'choice' of a grass pitch to be still an option and not eradicated completely from all club sites.

I think this is the wrong thread YT? But to answer your points which I think (perhaps wrongly so apologies if so) applies to the SQ site as you posted about the club losing interesting sites there before.

Is there a determination to iron out all the 'interesting foibles' (character) of some sites? And what has this to do with pop up sites?

Is that a true fact, or just your opinions there YT? And where is the evidence for that? And who gets to decide which sites have 'interesting foibles' (character)? It indeed may be interesting to you but not for others?

And all such sites? ...a grass pitch to be still an option and not eradicated completely from all club sites.

I think that's rather an amazing statement based on just one site that has to change in order to be an all year round site and I recall fully supported by the local council.

Perhaps who knows the club actually looks at the data from those who actually use club sites rather than just have an interest in the subject and note certain patterns that appears to mirror what has been posted on here, that grass pitches go last, are useless for an all year round site and SP are in great demand?

     Apologies if off topic.

I’d be very interested in your take on it MrC, judging by the pics you’ve posted I believe you have an excellent choice palette re your club sites certainly not bland nor over fussy & by no means not the standard cheap & cheerful fayre I tend to use when I’m looking for a stopover👍🏻
