I'm sure I don't have this on, David, but some familiar looking dots on your map😉

when I look at photos on my iPhone, you can choose map and it gives a similar spread of locations.

I also have Google location turned off. The map photos that YT mentions are fascinating though, seeing where you have been. On the continent ours are confined to France and unfortunately only includes later photos which contain GPS info. So although they are in there, ones taken on digital cameras we now don’t use are not located.

The default for Google Map is that the timeline is on. If you click on "Your Data in Maps" you can set up your Google wide controls.

'photos' on Apple devices does a similar thing. You can search it by people, places, days/months/years.

I've created a spreadsheet of my daughters life travel so far (15yrs) in terms of miles flown (108k), cruised (16.8k), locations, countries (30) visited.

I may create a Google Maps file plotting her life journey that she can continue herself.

Travel broadens the mind as the old saying goes.

Probably need a month or more to plot my life journey, that includes over 4 million flown miles.

Fascinating having the info to hand with simple devices like a mobile phone.

Hi David, Like you I am not worried about the privacy aspect and use Timeline as a reminder of places visited for both personal and business reasons.

The one attached makes my life look a lot more interesting than may usually be the case!!

I also use the Google timeline as a reminder/ log or where we've been.  I go on at least once a week to edit the location errors that seem to creep in regularly, and to add in the places that don't come up when the phone runs oit of battery!!  😃   I've never downloaded the maps, so will need to experiment how to do this.  However if I look at the map of the UK, apart from a tiny bit of N Wales and a tiny bit of East Anglia, and a tiny bit of Scotland, the rest of the UK is obliterated by red marker blobs....  😃😃  P.S. Never been to Ireland - still on my wish list!
