Final approach directions

Hi all, when looking at sites I seem to remember towards the bottom of the page it gave specific directions relating to the site.

I.E. Do not use sat nav for final approach and then it would instruct you to arrive at site avoiding possible pinch points/hazards.

Am I missing a trick but for the life of me I can't find this info anymore online. Any pointers much appreciated.

Kind regards John

If you touch / click on the magnifying glass at the top right of the screen (not present when on the booking pages, but on all others) it brings up a search window. Put in the name of the site and press search. This brings up the site name, normally at the top of the list. Touch / click on it and you are into the old site pages and directions are available as they were before.

Steve, I haven't read the 'snagging list' (life's too short....) but I assume (naively) the proper 'fix' will be to migrate all the site directions (and anything else that's missing) into the site info pages of the new system.

anything else (a simple link back to the 'old' pages) will mean data being maintained in two places (always a bad thing) and not being able to bin the old system even well down the line.

whilst the system can (just about) support folk booking a site they know on a date they want, the amount of missing day that still resides in the old system, including the CL 'library' is quite staggering.

at some point the club will need to bridge ALL the missing data otherwise it will mean either maintaining systems and hardware use for the old system OR it will just be turned off and there will be no way to find it, even with a magnifying glass👎

A comprehensive phallic elevation, without doubt.

I would also assume that eventually the information will be incorporated into the new booking system. However, certainly in the medium term this does not seem to be the case. On the things to do list there is no mention of directions to CAMC sites, but they do plan a link to the old site pages for CL’s to provide cost and directions.

    6. Adding a link to Certificated Locations (CLs) site details webpage to show you both From Prices and Directions

The info is certainly on line.  You can simply type the name of the site you are going to - whether Club site, Independent site, CL or CS - as an ordinary internet Google search. That will give you the website of the campsite you are going to.

Not all CLs/CSs have their own websites. Steve has given the solution up page.

Perhaps CAMC should sign up for EE full fibre broadband. Then they could talk us down from "the tower". Early arrivals could be put in a 'holding stack' circling the site. Think of all those pensioned off air traffic controllers looking for a 'little earner' in retirement wink

It would probably be useful if the Club added the site directions as a .pdf file to the campsite details the same as they do for the site plan and site leaflet?

Hello . Sorry to revive an old post about final approach directions usually accompanied by a map. Again could someone point out how to access them when using the app or just on a tablet? I always use these two methods when searching and booking. However I can only find the final approach instructions when using a laptop as the page it brings up is slightly different.

    Thanks all

As far as I know you can’t get them from the App. Use the browser on your tablet to access the club website and touch on the magnifier top right. Type in the name of the campsite (such as Cirencester) and the club site usually comes up top of the list. Touch on it and it takes you to the old site pages. Scroll down and touch on the map tab to get the information you require.

Use the handbook it is much easier than this ridiculous, unreliable and unsafe system.

This thread started 15 months ago and I put something similar in another thread.

It can't be that difficult to add a link to the "final approach" information for each site.

It's clear that the powers that be just can't be bothered.

They have managed a link for the CL’s but apparently can’t manage it for a couple of hundred sites. Most strange.🤔

    I've made it live, Chelty.

NB. It’s not secure and not an official CAMC site.

Useful list that, why can't the Club do something as simple as that?
