Earlier this year, on a CL, an outfit pitched right alongside the only water tap. I felt quite embarrassed having to stand by their front window whilst the aquaroll slowly filled up. They were the ones that pitched there but that didn't make it feel right..

John, unless it's a very large space, a lot of CLs we've used have pitch number (or at least a pointer as to where to park) and sometimes one of these can be close to the (only) water tap.
I wouldn't choose that as we don't want folk filling barrels on a production line under our noses.
we fill once when we arrive (or even at home or previous site sometimes) and leave the tap to others that need it. It's unlikely we would be need water again unless it was a stay beyond 5/6 days, even showering in the van.0 -
I wouldn’t be embarrassed to be honest. If they have chosen that place to pitch up, then the issue is theirs, not yours. I might be more concerned if it was blocking another MH’s access to filling up, but then it’s simply explain the issue to the badly pitched MH owners, if you get no joy, let the CL owner sort things out.
There are a few folks new to CLs that aren’t quite as savvy as regular users, and they sometimes don’t get things right first time.

Definitely not condoning antisocial behaviour at all although it appears that you wish me to do so for some reason.
As for diesel or engine oil I was merely referring to my experiences of a commonly know issue with Fiat. I offered this only as a possibility, a very plausible one given the information provided. In the case of the diesel leakages I witnessed that trail was right round the site and on the pitch and required far more work than just shovelling.1 -
Not so long ago I went forward onto a grass pitch. Unbeknown to me our neighbours went straight to the wardens to complain that my habitation door was facing them (no firebreak issues). The warden came to look and both parties were told that there was no rule which precluded me from doing so. Despite this I told the warden that I was willing to act in order to keep the peace. Being busy the warden said I did not have to move or turn round but offered me a pitch which had a cone on it which I accepted. It later transpired that our neighbours had requested that very pitch on arrival but the other assistant warden had turned that request down. Throughout our stay I got the distinct feeling that they were still unhappy about something.

🤣 Not at all, I only found out when returning the barrier fob and saying thank you that they wanted that pitch. Strange thing is our large picture window is on our other side so I cannot understand why the door was the issue! Furthermore the car I tow was originally on the door side obscuring this!😳

We arrived at Dulverton one summer, and I reversed up to the peg as shown by the wardens everytime we arrive on a site. I parked on the offside of the caravan, as required, pulled out the awning on the nearside, and put the kettle on.
10 mins later an angry, posh, elderly couple with a tiny caravan banged on the door... 'Are you up to the flag? You havent left us much room!' They demanded
'What flag?' I asked..'The peg, the peg! The one you're meant to have the offside rear of you're caravan against!!' He shouted.
'Do you mean this peg?' I asked. 'The one that the offside rear of our caravan is against?'
'Well, you've obviously moved it!' he shouted, and stomped off.
I reported the incident to the wardens, just in case the peg had been moved. He came to the pitch, and confirmed it was exactly where it should be.
An hour later, the biggest Motorhome with all the kit turned up, and parked next to us with absolutely no problem.
I'm afraid some people, in all walks of life, have a sense of entitlement and feel that they do or say whatever they like.I find that a gentle, polite approach usually works. If not, involve the warden

There does seem to be more 'tension' described about CAMC sites than we generally encounter in 'other places'.
I agree with David, the more rules there are the more opportunity there is for someone to wave one in your face.
we, too, spend the majority of our time in places where common sense and friendliness seem to help the world go round. Other campers even come out to help you park if space or overhanging trees makes things a little tricky. Language is no barrier for like minded souls.

What do you do when the ‘neighbours’ are not on site? Many is the time I’ve arrived and pitched up between van with those occupants clearly out for the day. I always do as I’m supposed to according to the rules which, I add are there for good reason in my opinion. On the instance I quoted I was on a grass pitch with almost twice the distance between pitches as compared with the hard standings. The only thing questioned was my door which was actually obscured by my ‘toad’ car. For the life of me I could not see an issue and nor could others. My front windscreen also faced the hedge and not my neighbours opposite. However, if any one could tell me what was wrong I’d appreciate that as I’m always open to furthering my understanding of ‘club’ etiquette. Suffice it to say in order not to cause upset I moved. Maybe I was wrong doing this as some enjoy a good moan and in moving I possibly deprived then of that pleasure.
On this occasion I could see no reason whatsoever for them to call for those ‘teachers’ you mention, David, can you?3 -
on UK sites, we tend to do the same, David. We won't face another van as it 'might' be taken wrongly, despite it being within the rules. However, our UK stays won't be on club sites now so perhaps the rules/etiquette might be more relaxed on CLs etc.
again, like yourself, the places we most visit have hedge lined pitches or there are such a mix of foreign and UK vans that it's difficult to get things right for everyone.
folk are usually happy just to open the door and say Holá or Bonjour👍

I must confess that my focus has been whether I'm more 'level' nose in or out rather than even noticing which side any neighbours door might be.
I am of the view that if it's that much of an issue then perhaps caravan sites are not the right environment for one with such delicate sensibilities.

Like youselves, my wife and I have noticed recently how some people think it's acceptable to walk through your pitch, recently we stayed at Cirencester cmc and people constantly walked through our pitch.its time the cmc put up signs to remind people of the rule about walking through pitches and to respect people's space.

I am sorry you were unhappy at Cirencester, but on a busy site with over 200 pitches, and laid out in the way it is, there is bound to be a lot of foot traffic. I don’t think notices and signs would help you.
You might, like me, be happier on a smaller site with pitches better separated. Have a look at the website photos for Wysdom Touring Park at Burford - a site with just 25 pitches, 15 miles away, and also within walking distance of the town shops, cafes and pubs.

we were at Broadway back in june when we subjected to loud bassy music from 2 adjacent motorhomes, i did indeed ask the owners of both to turn it down, one did the other just ignored me, so i asked the warden politely to sort it out as the music started for the second night and his response was 'you need to sort it yourself'.
