Has anyone seen any announcement about the 50% Midweek Discount coming to an end? The website only shows sites with the discount up until the end of the year.

The present discounts are for 2022 so I presume new discounts might appear for 2023 as and when the new booking system goes live?

Perhaps the the CAMC might start operating like the other club. You pay the price you agreed at time of booking. Special offers might be made after you booked, if they haven’t achieved the volume of bookings they require, but these are not applied to your booking. It does have advantages though, so far at least they have not added any electricity surcharge to my bookings.

It would of course encourage folk to change from a non deposit booking to one with a deposit, if they were able to get the mid week discount.

But some members have a!ready booked site for 2023 which have in the past given MWD. Do you expect that if they are applied in 2023 those booking will receive the discount retrospectively? I don't. Another reason for not booking early IMO.

I don't expect anything Nellie I'm just pointing out the way things are. The prices change week on week a year ahead with seasonal variations. I presume people will be able to cancel and rebook within the confines of the new system to get the benefits of reductions, if there are any?

It was a rhetorical question brue, badly worded I admit. What I was hoping for was a response from Ro, or someone else from HO, clarifying the position and giving some indication as to whether or not they would be applying the discounts next year.

Nellie –Can’t say I’ve noticed many HO staff respond to CT posts even prior to Covid and Ro, unfortunately, appears to post only when she absolutely has to IMHO.

Having said that I realise CT is for members/public use but we were introduced to a number of HO staff some years back whom we were told may post on CT.

JK is often helpful with some info thankfully.

Discounts/incentives etc will hopefully become clear with the new booking system.

I reported on this some time ago, I can't remember if it was on here of FB

I spoke to Live Chat about the 50% discount and the reply was that due to ongoing changes in the pricing re deposits various additions had been paused until such time as the new system would be up and running. There was no definite answer to my question other than any additions/changes would be notified when then time came.

As they have taken bookings up to May next year and no 50% is showing in the price panel I can't see it being added retrospectively. With that I formed the opinion that the Mid Week discount had gone and never to return in it's present format.

Yet another financial gain for the club

Maybe not if many like ourselves seldom if ever use a club site unless the cost is within our/their price limits, the MWD making that feasible.

Agree Nellie. It’s the MWD that might make the difference to us as well. We are happy to use a Site Mon-Thursday, as they are usually a lot quieter. Possibly yet another nail in the coffin. Once we find a CL or private site we like as an alternative, we don’t usually go back to a Club Site. We have found a very nice CL alternative to FM now, and the price difference will keep us going there.

I noticed that a few months ago, and IIRC mentioned it in another thread.  Like ttda above, we too make use of that in autumn/winter, as it provides a decent discount and sites are quieter too.

Still, every cloud has a silver lining, as we too have found alternative sites, CLs actually; good for us and also good for the CLs concerned, their gain, CAMC's loss.

Didn't look at it that way but yes you are right. In my case we are no longer able to afford club prices. Our last club site booking is Castleton in Nov at 50% mid week discount then onto cl's only

5 weeks touring south coast this summer cost an average of £18.65 per night. It would be silly not to. wink

I said early in year that the Club Site Prices would seem astronomical once the new prices are in, as well as losing that VAT relief, and then of course the energy cost additions came along as well. We just managed a very reasonable stay at FM before everything hit, back in March, but we haven’t used a Club Site since.

Has anyone else noticed that over the last couple of years that some 'pitch'  prices have dropped slightly,  while per person prices have risen.

The 50% discount is only on the 'pitch'  price so the cunning club have even managed to make that less and less.  Wouldn't surprise me if it did go altogether.

Unless the other club stops it’s discounting, in particular the Age related discount, I would think the CAMC are going to have to do something. I suspect mid week discount is utilised a lot more by us older retired folk, who holiday out of season, than younger members. Once the playing field is levelled with the introduction of deposits, an £8 a night saving by using the C&CC will be even more enticing.

Agreed SteveL,  this year we have used C&CC full facility sites but not any CAMC ones,  though we have used non facility ones and CLs.

If the trend carries on of ever increasing costs I can see us using more and more of these type of sites,  as you say an on average saving of £9 a night makes a huge difference on a 6 week tour.

This club really does need to put its thinking cap on or we the members are going to walk away.  It could lead to less sites being open all year and worse case, some sites closing altogether.
