Late arrivals

Hi, just thought i would share our experience whilst travelling to a club site recently, my wife and i were heading to a pre-booked pitch on a club site when we stuck on the motorway due to three separate accidents which resulted in a three hour trip taking nine hours. While stationery on the motorway i received a call from the site to inform me that the club were doing some updates to the computer system and we would not be able to pay for our pitch after 19:15 but we could pay by card over the phone and still be able to arrive by 20:00 . I told the site warden of our situation and what were to happen should we not make it to site by 20:00 and was told that we wouldn't be able to enter the site until the next morning as there is no late arrivals area . I am aware that wardens need their time off and there have to be limits but surely a bit of compassion and common sense could be used in such a situation, it would have only taken one out of four wardens on site at the time to have opened the barrier and let us in to our pre-booked/ paid for pitch. As it happened we arrived just in time to enter the site but it made the day even more stressful not knowing if we would have a place to pitch or not. Incidentally the main topic of conversation between  people on site was the cost of a pitch -£42.60 per night!
