    Clearly.

However I wasnt particularly looking as such, I just happened to spot that there were two threads running on the same subject on the 'latest posts' page of the forum.

All our vans over the years, only 4 in total, have pre-dated ATC.  Assuming it is ATC that is the problem.......

I have towed over 90,000 miles without incident, so I would not worry about the lack of ATC.

I would however be holding back at least £500 of the balance due for the van, and informing my insurer.  Any extra then charged by insurer would be deducted from the final payment, and the dealer would have to agree to that to get me to take the incomplete van away.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I've spoken with Bailey, my dealer and insurance company. Decided to take delivery of the caravan as there is no indication of likely date for the ATC to be available. I am an experienced tower and will pack van carefully. Insurance cost an additional £40. I have faith in my dealer so I'm confident the job will be done as soon as Bailey send out the parts and they said they will prioritise vans delivered without it. Bailey suggested I contact them to ask for compensation for additional insurance cost but I'm not holding my breath on that.

We have had the exact same issue with our new Bailey van purchased this month: missing ATC due to supply issue at point of manufacture.  However, we were not advised of this by the dealer until the purchase was complete and we were towing it away a week later on collection day.  Agreed that it is not necessary, and as experienced caravanners and towers, we’re happy to tow without it…but in terms of insurance, it’s not just the 15% discount, equating to around £40 for us too, but that because the ATC is listed as factory-fitted as standard for our model, we’ve been told we will not be insured in the event of a towing accident due to snaking or loss of control - a risk we simply cannot afford to take on the cost of a brand new van, even if it is a one-in-a-million chance of something going wrong.  If we had been notified of the issue prior to purchase we may have made a different decision; now left somewhat fruitlessly chasing the dealer and Bailey to try and get some idea of timeframe for fitting.  What we don’t understand is that if it is a parts supply issue, how we can find numerous ATC kits to buy online with immediate delivery…

I have held an HGV Class 1 for 40 years, i have also been towing caravans for the same period for thousands of miles all over the world.

Some caravans these days are designed with the ATC (Active Trailer Control) in mind, i have had the ATC kick in on 4 occasions in the last 2 years mainly due to wind gusts, when it does kick in believe me you will be aware, its like someone throwing an anchor out the back of the van! Brilliant device

I currently have an almost £50K Coachman Lusso 2 sat in the dealers waiting for the ATC control module to arrive.

As experienced as i am i would not dream of collecting my new pride & joy without this essential safety feature fitted.

I have seen first hand on many occasions peoples dreams disappear when due to no fault of their own the caravan has become unstable and ended up on its side on the motorway, personal belongings spread everywhere.

For as long as the dealer is waiting for their money they will be keep the pressure on the manufacturer for the part

BE A RESPONSIBLE CARAVANER AND DONT TAKE IT OFF THE FORECOURT

ANYONE ENCOURAGING ANYONE TO TAKE IT OFF THE FORECOURT THINK AGAIN PLEASE.

We picked up a new Elddis caravan in early September, we had waited six months for it. As we were hitching up the van to drive away it was noticed that the ATC light was not working. The two sales reps tried various things to check the system until they spoke to the workshop who told them that the unit has not been fitted!!

We had no choice but to drive off with the van and we are still waiting for a unit to arrive. All the wiring is in place. It makes you wonder about the PDI if the sales people did not know.

With the winter now coming there is no panic but it leaves a bd taste in your mouth when the largest dealer in Norfolk can’t get it right.

Couple this with a motor mover that had excessive gaps between the cogs and the wheel, a door handle that came off and a pull out table that was not fixed correctly. These have been rectified and we love the van but.

I bought my Bailey twin axle and had the same issue with the Alko Atc not fitted. That was September 2022 it's now February 2023 and I am still chasing the dealer,Alko and Bailey. Each passes the buck without resolution. This is an issue under the consumer credit act and from what I have learned the contract is withthe dealer.

I hope you have your situation resolved because like me you have probably paid the asking price and could be missing out on insurance discounts too.

We bought unicorn vigo 5 in May 2022. At the time dealer said ATC and other items, would be available Sept or Oct. Other items missing too ... table now received, still waiting for grill pan and bedroom window (window had a fault in it).

We are about to start chasing Bailey.

Details of Bailey contact and Any other advice welcome

    Thanks Karen and Mike

Same as few other posts here ref Alko Atc not fitted and still not available: We bought new Unicorn June 22 and told only at handover no Atc unit fitted due to shortage. Have chased dealer and Bailey few times, Alko had said would be available Nov but here we are Feb 23 and still not available. Yet i understand new Baileys have been coming with fitted since about Nov 22. A very poor situation and Bailey don't appear to be doing much about it, certainly distinct lack of communication. Customer service to someone whose paid out £30k ???

    Hi

My vigo is 12 months old in June and having no luck trying to get this issue sorted.

Yes paid out 30k and was told on changeover the ATC indicator light was missing.

It consists of 2 LEDs so finding another company to produce these shouldn't be a problem if they cared....

At the time i was living in my van during the week due to work so it was moving straight onto a seasonal pitch (site is behind the dealership).

Still no table (no to bothered), received the grill last year in the post which unfortunately was not missing.

Anyone want to swap there ATC light for a grill pan?

    Hi

Spoke to a dealer today and they are available now.

Bailey sent me back the dealer Bardsey leisure  but they sell so many vans they don't care

P.s I bought the van from them last year as was on a seasonal pitch due to work which is behind the dealership

    Cheers

    John
