Black Horse Farm
Is it me or is the Black Horse Farm site looking decidedly shabby these days? I booked a ferry pitch for earlier this week. The toilet block and the rest of the site have deteriorated significantly since we were last there only last year. Rotting timbers and flaking facia boards around the buildings and the site grass was long and looked as though it had been cut with an axe. Are HQ cutting down on site stafff and building maintenance whilst increasing the prices at the same time? It was just short of £30 for an overnight. Value for money it was not!

We stayed at Black Horse Farm for a week last October and over the jubilee weekend in June. We found the site to be OK and the wardens very friendly and helpful. Both facilities blocks, however, could do with refurbishment. The larger lower one is a bit tired, but kept very clean. The top one nearest the ferry pitches (which we only popped into prior to departure) is much smaller and in need of more urgent attention. The only other negative comment, which I put on my feedback form, is that the lower block has an early cleaning time of 10am, whereas the top one is cleaned nearer lunch time. As the people using the ferry pitches are likely to be leaving the site early it would make more sense to clean it early leaving the longer stay people more time for leisurely ablutions in the lower block.
No need to cancel, in my opinion. We enjoyed our stays there. Lots of places to visit that aren’t too far away.

It was 2016 the last time we stayed there and I thought at the time they were adding disabled toilet/washing facilities to the lower block by way of a small extension just across from the pathway down the side of the block. At that time they were also reconstructing the Reception and I had somehow imagined that it might have included upper toilet block but obvious not.
We have booked for September for a proper stay, ie not an overnight. So it will be interesting to see what the situation is. We tend to use our own facilities so the state of toilet blocks is usually not a major issue for us.

The Motorhome service point on this site is one of the worst I have come across. It still has the back breaking covers over the waste water disposal point (which are near impossible to get to when parked over) and any water spilt (fresh or waste) runs across the area and on to the nearest pitch!

We were there in September and have to agree about the motorhome waste point. Given that since our last visit they had rebuilt the Reception and added some services pitches so you might have thought they would have renovated both the toilet block and the motorhome waste point. If your waste is on the UK drivers side you more or less block access in and out of the site which won't make you popular! I got round this by using a small length of hose so I didn't obstruct anyone.
