Drip from hose under fixed water tank

The hose under the caravan is dripping slightly. Only perhaps 1cm in a bucket over a few hours. We have discovered it is from the bottom of the fixed water tank, probably the white drain plug inside the tank. Is that a plug to drain the water, or is it a valve in case there is too much water pressure? Also a bit worried in case some water could be escaping underneath the tank and not all out of the hose. Although the whole area under the seat seems dry. Are we supposed to open that tank, the dealer told us not to as it needs to be screwed in tightly, but we had to look and see what was in there to find the source of the drip.

Sorry but what is that white blob? It looks like a bodged attempt to make something watertight. It'll be no surprise if you have a leak there, I'm afraid.😕

I think it's a back to the dealer for a moan job.

Don't understand why there would be pressure in your water tank?. I have an onboard water tank in my Lunar Delta and the two outlets are drain and overflow. If it is drain then I would suggest the rubber washer has perished and needs replacing. Maybe someone has bodged/ attempted that by the looks of your photo's.

If I recall correctly, ADP, this is a brand new caravan and, like you, I query the comment about pressure in the water tank. The only pressure can surely be that caused by the weight of the water 🤷🏻‍♂️

I was wondering about that, but the white blob is on the wooden base where the hole was cut for the hose, l perhaps to protect the wood where the hole is. The hose has a filter in underneath, but the plug above it is impossible to get out. I have now removed all the water through other means and still can't get the plug out. So I'm wondering if it's supposed to come out. There is nothing in the handbook about it and the dealer said you don't need to open the water tank and it is better not to in case you don't close it tightly enough.

Sorry, I meant from filling it with a hose. But we did this with a low flow rate and there is an overflow pipe so I imagine that would not have caused it.

Filling the tank should never cause it to leak, other than running out of any overflow pipe.

If I'm right and this is a new van, my advice is to return to your dealer. That whole set up looks a mess, to be perfectly frank.

Initially you said drain pipe !....can't understand why there would be a filter in a drain pipe. My advice for what it is worth is to return to the place you purchased it from and ask for an explanation and confirmation everything is as it should be. I agree with TW looks very suspicious.

I too would agree with that.

Thanks, I've sent them an email. Will report when or if I hear anything back.

I would have thought any drain pipe would extend a little further out as regardless of any white sealer water will spread beyond it......

Any filter in the drain pipe is asking for trouble in my opinion.....

    Update:

I sent an email to Raclet about the issue above and didn't get a reply. So I called Three Shires Campers and spoke to Ivan, who was super helpful and amazingly has been assisting us in resolving the issue, even though we didn't buy it from them.

Three Shires Campers are taking over the retail side of selling these vans from Raclet and will also be doing the servicing from next year. They have looked into the issue described in my post above and we now have resolutions. We were also informed that all fittings were put in by Trigano, not Raclet.

Apparently it was a known issue that there is a slight drip from the plug, but Raclet didn't tell us, which would have been helpful. Three Shires have now designed a system to drain the water with a tap, similar to that used in motorhomes. When we bring it in to be serviced in April, they will fit this for free as a warranty repair.

In the meantime, he has found out from Raclet that they put blu tak in the plug on ours, but since the plug is supposed to be removable, we should be able to get it out to drain water. He has advised we could try pliers, but if we break it Three Shires have a spare they can send us. At least we will be able to drain water out. We don't intend to tow with water in the tank anyway and a very slow drip on site is not a big deal.

To be honest, once this issue is resolved, we will be very happy as it seems like a great caravan that meets all of our needs. We are pulling it out of the garage today and will have a look at all it and see if we can get the plug out. Not going away for another 6 weeks, so we still have time to sort things out.

Update here, Three Shires Leisure have taken over the retail and servicing of these Trigano Mini Freestyles and Silvers from Raclet. We had ours serviced there in April and they seem very thorough and really nice people, worth the trip there to have it serviced and we will be going to them each year for it. As a warranty repair they took out the water tank, resealed it and put it back in and put in an external drain tap, which worked brilliantly on our recent trip. They also added a switch so we can disconnect the taps from the 12v and leave them open for storage. All issues we had initially have been resolved completely. They know these caravans well and we had a long discussion about various aspects of the van when we went to collect it, it seems they check all vans thoroughly when they get them and add switches for the taps, which Trigano don't supply them with. So overall we are very happy with Three Shires Leisure and our Mini Freestyle 290.
