Am I the only person who thinks the design awards are a farse?  The vans are the same old most years  with very little innovation.  Same layouts year in year out with just a change of colour scheme or logo,

Certainly not due awards!

Most manufacturers will stick to a design that sell there LVs there have been a few in the past that have been "different" but have not ,been successful

The new smaller models from Bailey and The Swift group seem quite a new take on c/vans and are seen on sites quite often

It be an idea to give an award for a manufacture who will design a caravan with a realistic payload, mine is 185 kg. and it is a 4 berth, put in your aqua role, wastemaster, pots, pans, cutlery & pots for a microwave, then fit a motor mover for the tight entrances' which 90% of us have you get 100 k.g. leaving only 85 k.g. for 4 persons clothes, it is stupid.

An old 2 berth caravan we had a few years ago had a payload of 245 k.g.

Do they think we're going to restaurants each night and don't have  pot and pans etc

It is also criticised on another forum noting that an award winning motorhome only had a payload of 355Kgm. I have no interest so don't ever bother reading them so don't notice these things.

Apart from the few serial changers of caravans I expect many keep vans for several years. When they come to look for a new van I am sure they will find all such awards and reviews as an aid even if it means as a result they dismiss those that have been chosen by others?

Not forgetting the publicity and free advertising the exercise brings, Rocky.

Personally from what little I have seen of new Caravan interiors, the way forward is backwards.......... with quality.

I cannot say I've read them. At present we are in NL and have been looking at the Knaus vans. They have introduced some electric only models that look very nice and feel well built.

Combined air-con & heating unit, twin induction hob, auto adjustment control of appliances so mains does not tripped. About 50kg reduced weight. Axles up to 1500kg on smaller 3 & 4 berth models that weigh about 1050/1100 empty.

Any of these in the awards as it ticks a lot of steps forward (unless you are an off grid fan)

Sounds god, but at what cost? Do they have an over or microwave?
