After a fabulous trip to Ayreshir Dumfries and Galloway we are planning another trip of approx 2 weeks further North. We will be driving from the south to start the trip at Englethwaite Hall then on to Maragowan, Bunree, Morvich, back to Maragowan and end at Troutbeck Head. We prefer not to drive much more than 3 hours unless we can stop for an interesting 2-3 hour break when we could do more. Are there any suggestions please for scenic routes with a 6 metre Motorhome and is it worth taking cycles with us? I am particularly confused by the best route Bunree to Morvich as Google shows a 4 hour route via Inverness.  We are happy to add on other club sites if it makes sense. Many  thanks

The normal route Bunree to Morvich is via the A82 to Invergarry then A87. However, for me currently Google is showing a route via Mallaig and crossing Skye. Either there’s some road closures or Google is playing up.

That's odd Steve I just checked and found the same, however the usual route to Morvich from the Fort William area is via Spean Bridge shouldn't take too long and is a nice scenic route.

FreshAir. You certainly don't need to go via Inverness unless there are any roadworks. Have a lovely time, most routes are scenic wherever you travel in that area. smile

PS The Commando Memorial near Spean Bridge might be worth a visit.

I assume the OP must have avoid ferries set. I’ve just selected that and it suggests a route towards Inverness, cutting across to Muir of Ord, then circling back via Loch Luichart and Loch Carron. Can’t see any road closures on Google or mentioned on the CC website. So probably a glitch with Google.

Thankyou. My instinct had been A82 then A87 but couldn’t get it to show up. I can check again nearer the time in case it is a temporary closure. I can see the ferrry route and it looks interesting but has anyone done it and know how suited it is to a Motorhome ? We have twice ended up on short ferry rides in the Motorhome in Cornwall by accident (my navigation error😅)and they worked out really well fortunately.

The ferry from Mallaig is a lovely way to travel to Skye, it's big ferry taking everything so you'd be ok with a motorhome but if you're not staying on Skye it's an expensive diversion and you'd probably need to book in advance.

edit I forgot there's aslo the little ferry to Skye at Glenelg! HERE

But the bridge is easy to use too. smile

We were in Spean Bridge 2 weeks back, the memorial was surrounded by scaffolding and screens, and some sort of work was ongoing.  No indication how long it would take.

I think there are overnight road closures for resurfacing hence GOOGLE sending you on a round about route. https://trafficscotland.org/map/index.aspx?acceptCookies=yes
