Difficulty getting insurance... can anyone help?

Hi My dad is currently 82 and is the proud owner of a 2020 Malibu campervan, which, is a Fiat Ducato 2.3.

He and my mother, who passed away in September 2021, have had several motorhomes and in 2020 went to the campervan which is much smaller. They have never had an insurance claim on any of these, or their caravans going back to 1976.

The problem has arisen when my Dad, on his own, went to insure the campervan and the insurers just don't want to know.

The previous insurer, direct line, don't insure Campervans anymore and this is why he couldn't simply renew.

My Dad is fit and well and has no penalty points or driving issues.

Has anyone else had this issue? Can anyone offer any advice?

Thanks in advance

I have done a trial for a quote on line with Saga  born Jan 1941and it has accepted at £750surprised

I think as I have been told many do not insure new customers if at 80yrs or older

Other than those helpful suggestions it sounds like an hour or two tapping the keyboard with with GoCompare, Compare the Market ,and the other well known comparison sites.

I re joined the ccc this year and they insured our PVC taking in to consideration my NCD most do not?

When talking to the man at their  call centre he advised that as I was a member I would be insured next year at 80yrs,but only because I am a member and have insurance. with them already

Might the answer be to include you on the policy as second driver?
