It’s a very broad spectrum of folk that declare their rights, Rocky. At one end the understanding and considerate ones and at the other those that truly don’t understand and deliberately abuse them. Often people misunderstand the difference between laws, rules and guidance and fall foul of applying their ‘belief’ in their rights to all of these, occasionally to the detriment and the rights of others.

There may be rules on MHF, but they are not policed.

I have seen threads on there so unbelievably extreme that I was genuinely shocked because I did not know that there could possibly be a place, other than in the dark web, where such views could be on open display.

Freedom of speech is an often quoted and misused right in my opinion.

Following on from Rowena's post, what are members views on the "last arrival" time. Whilst I can understand that it may be undesirable to have people 'clattering around' too late, would a 9pm cut-off be realistic although, of course, this may impinge on wardens working hours. Equally those who go out for the day may well arrive back significantly later than 8pm. We may therefore deduce that it isn't really 'traffic reduction' but rather enabling the poor old wardens to be able to sit down after a long day.

Im glad Im not a member in those circumstances. However I will note that the original MHF poster did not use such an extreme thread title as the one used on here. Other than that CAMC have answered which some will be interested to read.

Doesn't surprise me in the least. Its a subscription forum, £15 a year. For that sort of fee some will feel entitled to say what they want and how they say it? I doubt there is any incentive for the owner to intervene providing posts remain within the law, after all they wouldn't want to loose their livelihood? I am equally sure there are many decent and knowledgeable paid up contributors who are equally concerned about how some post on that forum.

I notice that someone has copy and pasted Rowena's reply on Motorhome Fun.

With good reason, I think 9p.m. is not unduly late, after all quiet time is after 11p.m.. Evening revelers could be coming back up until that time. I have experienced delays beyond 9.pm. and after the initial phone call, not well received, I have subsequent received a cheery welcome after further calls and when the Warden realised what had happened.

It was originally free until it got too big and demanded more resources. There is a history of the site somewhere in its pages.

No [Deleted User User], Im not envious and if you enjoy belonging to a forum which asks for payment that's fine by me.

I'm only replying as I dont like personal character attacks either.

I was a member when the site was in its infancy. Initially joined in hope that its influence would, as often suggested, lead to the development of aires and the improvement of Park and Ride facilities across the country for the motorhoming fraternity. Sadly I don’t think that we are really that nearer to achieving this today.

Progress is being made on aires, albeit slowly. P&R facilities without height barriers, less so.

If your not happy with the T&C’s that’s clearly the best thing to do. However, most seem to get along just fine.

Very, very slowly if at all? Some of the ‘aires’ set up have since disappeared. Better bet today is pub stops which have increased in number over recent decades. As for P&R, that’s appalling in my opinion given the potential. On the whole we are nothing like the more forward thinking mainland Europe.

Actually I don't wonder at all why you go anywhere. Surely that is up to you alone. Why not give that same sentiment to others that choose club sites? Your way isn't the best way is it, or are you saying it is?
