Wind out M H awnings

when booking a pitch for a motorhome I am baffled as to whether to book an awning pitch or non awning when you only have a wind out canopy awning. You would have thought that every pitch would be able to accommodate one when you only have one unit, as opposed to needing space for car and caravan . Unfortunately this is not the case and seem to varies from one site to another. We have been caught out on numberious occasions not being allowed to pull out the awning as we are not on a awning pitch. I realise for safety there has to be a sufficient gap for fire. But cars can be a fire risk too so what's the difference with the awning being out afterall its taking up the space where a car would be if you had a caravan. I appreciate caravanners need these awning pitches and they must wonder why motorhomers are having to book these pitches just to wind out their awnings. I wish the club would sort this out I have raised this with HQ .

I'm not sure there is anything to sort out as it’s all about spacing. 6m between caravans/motorhomes and 3m between their cars/awnings.

Can’t be bothered with all that awning & non awning nonsense. if a pitch is available I book it irrespective of any labels on it.

I had over 50 years of touring and never once - home or away- went to a site with rules about awning or non awning, and extra rules about using a wind out canopy or not. I know I am famously intolerant and if I had ever come across rules like that it would have seen me driving somewhere else - but I never needed to.
