Replacing Surge Damper on Coachman caravan.

The Surge Damper was cracked by the frost this winter and an identical replacement are now not available. I have been told that the replacement is two separate items a Surge Damper and a Smart Switch. I bought these two items but they arrived with very few fitting instructions. Can anyone help by giving us any fitting instructions.
