CONISTON PARK COPPICE - CARAVAN AND MOTORHOME CLUB SITE INFORMATION

Please Note:

Due to recent weather conditions a number of trees have fallen at the site and the Forestry Commission have advised the site is now unsafe. Therefore the site is closed, up to and including Friday 4 March. The reopening date will depend on the Forestry Commission attending the site to carry out the works.

The site is currently without power.

    Evening

That's why I started the check your bookings thread J. There may be a few of the early opening sites that will struggle to open on time. Damage everywhere is extensive.

Doesn't really matter who owns the property jvb, if it's not safe it's not safe. There's just too many trees down all over the country and not enough professional chainsaw operators.

Completely agree with Take the Dog Along.

Even if you look at’News and Events’ on the website, there are no announcements about emergency closures.

My worry is that once large deposits are at stake, members will be more likely to travel in dangerous weather, rather than simply being able to cancel with no financial loss.

As TDDA says, emergencies and closures should be on the front page of the website for those of us who do not use Facebook etc.

Hope the staff at Coniston are safely installed elsewhere for a few days.

I occasionally have a look at the state of York during the floods, it being my Dad’s home town, and somewhere we visit frequently. So I take an interest in the flood defences generally. The Club does have a warning notice out for Rowntree Park, but it’s not obvious. It’s on the YRP website page, on the right hand side, under the reviews. The Tewkesbury area where the Club Site is located is showing as at risk from flooding on the Gov. Flooding website, but I couldn’t see a similar warning of flooding on the Tewkesbury webpage, so assume all is ok.

Does anyone have any info on the Park Coppice site closure as of 6th April?

Just received a voicemail and email cancelling my booking, as part of the site doesn't have electricity.

As stated above, I cant any reference to this anywhere, and its still possible to book the site for this weekend.

I would have expected that a call to the contact centre to advise of the closure, and to not allow any more bookings would have been made, before starting to cancel all the bookings.

I'm still trying to find how long the closure is, or if it's indefinite.

Strange lack of communication for such an established organisation.

I'll keep looking, and commence the impossible job of booking a decent site at Easter with one day's notice..
