I was on walk yesterday and one of the Ramblers who is a Motorhomer/ Campervan user, he said that he had an email from his relation that lives in Penzance .The email says that Parking RV's within a certain distance from the Seafront is going to be banned. Apparently this comes into force as from 2022. Parking at Marazion is a bit of a premium as it is, how this will be managed will be interesting.

They will still be able to use car parks, presumably.

I've heard nothing about this, ADP, but vanners have caused chaos in Marazion for years so it wouldn't surprise me. Have you checked the Cornwall Council website for details?

No I have not done any more research as yet, other than a text to my Son who lives in Helston. His best mate lives in Marazion but at the moment away at sea. I will try and put some more meat on the bone later. I know it can be an issue as I was there in September, but as you said it has been an issue for years.

Won’t make much difference, very little MH on-street or provision in Council car parks anyway. However, there’s long-stay MH parking (5.5m +) off Green Lane within easy walking distance. As is the case in most of Cornwall, not adequate in high season, but generally ok at other times.

Unless the car parks are banning MH’s, then there’s quite a few options for parking up a MH in Marazion, but not free. It used to be a right old free for all all down the road into Long Rock, until things got out of hand and the Council banned vehicles from parking opposite the Marshes in Mounts Bay.

I’ve not turned anything up but I’ve not searched that hard. Taking a MH into Marazion isn’t the wisest thing to do anyway.

Apart from the faint-hearted there isn’t any reason not to take a MH into Marazion if you head for the long-stay park at Green Lane. It’s specifically intended for vans over 5.5m plus overspill from adjoining car park. There is plenty of space on firm grass and it’s a short walk to the town centre and causeway. In the summer it might be full, but you can expect that just about everywhere. No overnight parking.

I have also done a search and can't find anything.

Maybe in its recent aborted preparation for city status it decided it didn’t want a load of folks in campervans cluttering up the place and spoiling the new image? After all, you wouldn’t expect campervans to be welcomed in places like Rock, Padstow, St Mawes, or St Ives etc.

It’s reminiscent of the ruling that was brought in some years back so we'll wait and see.

And even in Newquay - less upmarket than those four - they are trying to move those who are sleeping overnight in motorhomes parked at the street edge.

That includes people living long term in vans in residential streets.

They want to be careful they don’t bite the hand that feeds them. Newquay attracts a younger set for whom campervans are a big part of the lifestyle. The local authority has done a lot in recent years to clean the place up and the table dancers have gone 😉. It is what it is. Probably not the kind of place your average CMC member might enjoy but live & let live and all that….Don’t expect Rick Stein there anytime soon.

EuroT, we’ll probably be in trouble for some thread drift. 🤭

SB, The NQ issue has been in the news with, so called, van-lifers being the main issue.
As ever, it seems that the behaviour of a very small number of people is the problem but, no matter what your view on their lifestyle, when it’s affecting others then they shouldn’t be surprised that action is proposed to restrict them.

I visited a business in Trebarwith Crescent on Monday and, based on their comments about the “disgusting behaviours” they see, I don’t think they would agree with your “live & let live” comment.

I can understand the reaction from some locals. I just wish these recurrent problems could be dealt with in a more intelligent way than tends to be the case, particularly when the reaction impacts on people who are not part of the problem. NQ & D&C Police have had some success when proactive with offenders e.g. waking them up at 2am to move them on and threatening to breathalyse them in the process.
