Greater Manchester Clean Air Zone - Motorhomes

Are all the motorhome users aware of the impending charges to be levied against motorhomes in the Manchester area 

This will be throughout Manchester, anywhere across 493 square miles that makes up the Greater Manchester conurbation

Motorhomes will soon be charged £ 60 PER DAY

    Here are the figures, just another reason to not visit Greater Manchester as far as I am concerned.

    Non-compliant vehicles classified as N1 or N2 – with a body type of ‘motorcaravan’ – will be charged to travel in the Clean Air Zone:

    N1 (3.5t and under) with a tax class of LGV: If your motorcaravan has a Euro 5 or earlier diesel engine (typically registered before 2016) or a Euro 3 or earlier petrol engine (typically registered before 2005) it will automatically qualify for a temporary exemption until 1 June 2023, with a daily charge of £10 from that date.
    N2 (over 3.5t) with a tax class of HGV: If your motorcaravan has a Euro V (5) diesel engine or earlier (typically registered before 2013) it will be subject to a daily charge of £60 per day from 30 May 2022.
    N2 (over 3.5t) with a tax class of private HGV:If your motorcaravan has a Euro V (5) engine or earlier it will be eligible for a discount on the daily charge from £60 to £10, payable from 30 May 2022.
    Blank on V5C document: Daily charges will apply as above, depending on the tax class of your vehicle – LGV, private HGV or HGV.

    The Club info would be more helpful if it indicated that the sites mentioned were in or out of the CAZs and as far as I can make out, contrary to what the Club has printed, the Portsmouth Ferry teminal is not in the CAZ. I would think CY could clear that up for certain.

    With regards to Portsmouth ferry terminals, the international terminal is outside the CAZ but the IoW terminal is inside.

    Thanks TW. I have never used the Portsmouth IOW ferry, only the Spanish ferry. I thought the terminals were the same place.Where does the Jersey ferry depart from?

    Burr's Country Park site is within the Greater Manchester area. frown

    You’ve got me there. I’d opt for Poole instead😄

    Edit: Checking the map, it looks like the CI ferries use the international terminal.

    Poole is the Condor ferry base it's a faster ferry.

    It has size limitations, I think.

    I hate the 'ride' in those big twin hull jobs but it beats the length of the crossing from Portsmouth.

    No it's not too restricted, we've used it a for Guernsey, Jersey and St Malo. It's only bad in very rough seas, just like other ferries. The Portsmouth one probably takes more freight and is definitely much slower.

    The Manchester CAZ covers all roads in all 493 square miles of Greater Manchester, with the exception of the motorways (M60, M62, M61, M56 etc..)

    however, if you are on one of these motorways & get diverted due to a road traffic incident you WILL be charged as soon as you leave the motorway

    As 'JillwithaJay correctly states Burrs Country Park is within the Greater Manchester limits for charging but so too are many CL's

    The IOW ferry is not actually within the CAZ but just on the southern edge. A detailed map is available at https://cleanerairportsmouth.co.uk. You will not be able to rely on signage for IOW ferries unless they update them as this will take you into the CAZ.

    A non-CAZ route is as follows:-

    At Rudmore roundabout (Cross channel ferries) take 2nd EXIT east(A2047) for 400m. Turn RIGHT on to Kingston Road(A2047). After 0.7M you will pass St Mary's Church on your left. After further 0.5M, cross rail bridge and 3rd EXIT from roundabout. In 200m, at roundabout, 1st EXIT into Victoria Road N, still heading south. In 600m LEFT into Elm Grove. At roundabout (950m) 1st EXIT LEFT into Kings Terrace (A288). At next roundabout, 3rd EXIT into Gordon Rd/Pembroke Road ( Holiday Inn nearby on right). In 400m ( at Cathedral) LEFT into High St. (tight turn). As road bears round to right, NEXT RIGHT into White Hart Road. Ferry terminal 400m on LEFT.
