Absolutely brilliant. Like a fairy tale BUT so much hard work required before even getting to play in such tournaments.

Absolutely fantastic achievement, such a talent at such a young age. 👏🏻👏🏻

And what a smile - lights up the court every time. smile

Great to see someone so gifted and humble out there enjoying herself and loving every minute of it.

And 2 teenagers in the final…fingers crossed for an athletic spectacle of match. A breath of fresh air from the usual oldies who just stand at the back and let the ball come to them.

Along with Coco Gauff, I worry a bit about the pressures at this level on those so young.

I've booked the sofa in front of the TV for 9pm tomorrow. What an achievement up to now. Imagine the reaction if she wins! She must be favourite for YSPOTY.

Me too, however she seems incredibly level headed and appears to be very happy with her life. She interviews superbly and doesn’t seem to let anything phase her. A real breath of fresh air and I’ve got everything crossed for her next match.

I have a feeling if she’s not victorious, she’ll still come off court with that huge smile. Let’s face it, win or lose, she’s rewritten the history books. Pressure? What pressure? She’s cool.

As long as her management team don’t railroad her into signing up with big sports companies that have her all over the world rather than playing tennis & keeping herself in top form. If she can emulate the Williams sisters success she will get everything she wants👍🏻

The tone of the BBC coverage yesterday evening said it all, emphasis was more on her as a brand and commodity with annual earnings of £x etc. I hope she can weather the storm, but her withdrawal from Wimbledon maybe revealed some vulnerability? We’ve seen too many crash & burn under the pressure. She’s a great kid and massive talent. I hope she keeps a level head and her parents are able to continue doing the great job they obviously have thus far. 🤞

Absolutely Brian! An incredible 3 week performance (which belies her stature) culminating in a magnificent final. Both finalists gave it their all and treated us to a game of tennis which was simply breathtaking!

HM The Queen sent her congratulations, along with thousands of others - all in awe of such a “remarkable achievement”

We have a genuine star and such a lovely young woman

    🎾🥂🍾

I’d hoped this would happen but didn’t really believe it would. Andy Murray can now pass over the flag of expectancy & relax. What an achievement, what skill, fight & belief👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎉🎊🎇🎆

By sheer good fortune I discovered about 10 minutes before the start that Channel 4 had done a late deals to show it live! And what a stroke of luck that was; I was resigned to just listening on radio 5 live!

What a brilliant performance, from both girls actually, and so good to see the enthusiasm and smiles during the match for points both won and lost - such a contrast to most of the current crop of top players.

Emma is indeed a real star (no need to even bother holding a vote for SPOTY now!). I think it has helped that she is so new on the professional scene and seems completely immune to all the pressures of top flight sport. That has been a problem with some of our other up and coming tennis stars who, whilst very good, have had confidence knocked out of them by a couple of years being knocked out in early rounds of tournaments.

Will she go on to become one of the greats of the sport? Well next year will be very revealing; hopefully she will be allowed to concentrate on her sport but there is no doubt she is a publicity agent's dream and all sorts of outside invitations will doubtless be on the table.

My abiding memory of last night will actually be seeing the two girls at the presentation after the match; it was only then, amongst all those celebrities that you could appreciate just how young the pair of them are.

It was a great night and another demonstration of how top level sport is such an attraction.

Me too, Rocky.  After Wimbledon, I just feared the pressure would be too much - but wow - she proved us both wrong and how wonderful to watch her skill and determination.  What a wonderful ambassador for the sport - indeed all sports!

Unlikely for the Europeans to follow the Aussies lead, Rocky,  them there in the deep south have had a much tougher line on the C19 problem.

I have to admit that I am becoming more and more of their attitude to the Anti - vaxers

Get the Jabs or get thee GONE !!

France are now considering the ‘no vax no entry’ re their own citizens muscles, they have a large amount of folk who are of the anti-vax type, including sports folk🤷🏻‍♂️. So this is a good way to continue pressuring folk if they want to watch sports & even participate👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

One other ( Almost ) related point about our immediate neighbours on the continent --  I got the information that they have banned the majority of tattooing inks recently -- putting them into the same group of chemicals as a lot of the cosmetic industry.

Rocky, It's one thing to 'consider'  but a very different thing to 'Apply AND enforce it yell'

ABM, I think you'll find the French are more adept at enforcing the law than we are. I see that the law passed through the relevant legislature house.

It's not just sports people but their own essential jobs, like civil service and health where vaccination will be enforced or it will be No jabs-No jobs.

Other countries are far more adept at passing laws because they actually have the manpower infrastructure in place to be able to enforce them! This country does not. Too few police, too few enforcement officials of any kind. Our own County police force here in South Yorks is some 1700 officers short, desperately asking any Tom, Dick or Harriet if they might be interested. I keep getting emails weekly…..😂
