Such a shame that this site closes in September. It's always so busy and a short walk into Woodstock and Blenheim Palace or a quick bus or train journey into Oxford.

Fair play to the wardens who have been friendly and continue to maintain the site to the usual high standards.

It's being replaced with a bunch of log-cabins. Seems like Blenheim Estates want to concrete over this entire area of Oxfordshire and build houses and yet more houses...

Have a look here for a nice long walk around Blenheim Palace:

Greenhill Leisure Park and Diamond Caravan Park are well regarded alternatives just a few miles away from Bladon and both are open all year.

Interesting to read other peoples opinions. Shows how different we all are.  We have just had a night here, the first time we have visited, using it as a stopover en-route to the south coast via the A34 and a chance to exercise the dogs in the grounds of Blenheim Palace.

So it all looked good - on paper !

Access is via a service road used as an HGV park for much of the day, immediately adjacent to the site fence. As we arrived one was turning round in the entrance to the site.  There was much revving & noise. Not a problem maybe if you can get a front row, but we ended up at the back, by the fence. We got wheelspin on the grass pitch. The road noise from the nearby main road was fairly constant and the walk into Woodstock was horrible, with great lorries thundering past. We kept crossing the road to wherever the pavement was widest. Many of the pitches slope and far too many grass pitches. Across the road is a big building site, with workmen shouting, not always pleasantries, from about 7am.

We got talking to a really nice guy on a nearby pitch who said he loved the place and regularly visited !

We vowed never to return and consider it no loss whatsoever to the Club !

The best part of the site was the wardens, as ever with the club, they were fantastic.

Appreciate that someone will be along in a minute to say that the place is their vision of Shangri La, which as said, just goes to show how different we all are. undecided

I agree with much of what you say. The main positives of the site are the closeness to Blenheim Palace and Woodstock. At a pinch also to Oxford although the C&CC site in Oxford is better for the latter. As to the site itself it badly needed upgrading as even some of the hardstanding were not up to muster. We have pitched along the row by the service road and can't say noise particularly bothered us but then you don't go to a site near main roads for peace and quiet!!! I am sure the Club would have upgraded had they been given the opportunity but clearly the Estate are happier with their proposed "Blot on the Landscape" with apologies to Tom Sharpe!!!
