Help with external socket identification
Hi everyone
We have three external sockets on our van.
1. 230v input
2. three pin 230v output
3. unknown!
The unknown one has a black plastic pipe (c2.5cm dia and about 5cm protruding) with a hole down the centre of the pipe and a cut away making the hole more like the shape of a rudimentary key. It’s covered by a black rubber cap and the whole thing is behind the usual white flap.
We thought it might be external gas, but it looks nothing like others we’ve seen.
I’ve tried to upload a pic, but can’t get down to the (tiny!) maximum 500k file size.
We’re probably being daft, but does anyone know what this is?
cheers

It might help if you tell us the age, make and model of your caravan.
A resizing app such as Image Size will make your pics postable👍🏻

It does sound like a gas point but hard to confirm without a picture. What is on the other side i.e. inside the van?

certainly sounds like a Bullfinch gas point connection.

Hi

Here’s a resized pic.
We’re a 2016 Bailey Pegasus, by-the-way.Cheers

And thanks for the tip about what’s behind the fitting. Unfortunately, the caravan is in storage away from home. Though I can look at the weekend, if you lovely helpful folk haven’t solved it by then!

I could be wrong but to me that looks like an after fit battery isolator switch or power switch for a motor mover. If so, there should be a red key to operate it.

Ah ha. Thanks Tinwheeler. I think you may be right. It’s probably a motor mover (we don’t have one fitted) isolator switch, as it’s located just to the rear of the near side wheel.
I’ll check it all out with the multimeter at the weekend.0 -
It’s possible a mover was fitted at some point and removed prior to sale of the van.
Whatever, I hope you get sorted.

It's definitely a Motormover isolation switch.

It’s apparently under a flap. If it’s a diy job, such things likely won’t have been thought of 🤷🏻♂️.
In much the same way, the round base with sealant would usually be hidden from view with only the socket/barrel part protruding.

Yes, that's correct.
